Ex of a year in a half broke my heart while away in another country for the summer and started going out with another guy almost straight after, then arrived home and remained in a LD relationship with him.

Now six months on, she approaches me in a night club weekend before last. Starts conversation, I am friendly but not acting interested, she apologises for what she did (for the first time) and acknowledges it was a bad thing (for the first time also). After this I stayed out her way for the rest of the night, I also assumed she was still with the LD guy.

Now another week goes by and I get a text from her on sunday there. I can hardly believe my eyes when I see it.

Her -"Hey can I ask you a favour? Also do you want to meet up at some point this week, I think we need to talk, long over due I know, it's alright if you don't x"

I asked my friend to check her Facebook page (i deleted her) and apparently she's no longer listed as in a relationship.

I waited until the next day to reply, not really knowing to say or if I was going to reply at all.

Me - Hi, what's the favour? Em I guess we can if you want to x

Her - Do you still have my health check I scanned on your computer? x (This is some document that I can't even remember her scanning, I'm guessing she could have easily got it from somewhere else)

Me - Eh no idea I'll check later as I'm in work until 10 tonight. When do you need it by? x

Her - Just as soon as you can would be good x

I got in from work at 10 that night but didn't bother checking for her document until the next day at about 12, then texted her as I couldn't find it.

Me - Hey. Sorry don't seem to have the health check any more on the computer. When/where do you want to meet up? x

Her - Ahh that's so annoying. Thanks for checking. I don't mind, when are you free?

Me - Em I'm free this afternoon or after 9 o clock tonight or tomorrow afternoon, can't do thursday though x

Me - Actually can't do this afternoon either soz x (my buddy just phoned and said he was popping round)

Her - Yeah I'm going climbing tonight so won't be home till late and I'm not sure how long I will be in uni tomorrow because I have a presentation on thursday.."

Me - Cool. Well can either do today before half six or before 7 on friday.

She didn't reply to that and it's almost been 24 hours. I don't know if she decided she doesn't want to meet anymore or what or once I agreed to meet she had satisfied her curiosity. I hardly acted overly eager or available though did I?

I don't think I want her back, certainly not just now but I would like the meeting.

Why do my threads always get pretty much ignored on here?

If she broke up with you and she wanted to meet it was a mistake for you to inquire about meeting. You should have let her do all the inviting, planning, etc. Now you look desperate.

Do you know why she hasn't responded? Because her ex or someone else is back in the picture so she is not certain now if she wants to meet you and is delaying replying until she determines the intentions of her ex.

MIK1000,

Let me offer some insight. The only reason she is back to you is because she is looking for an easy alternative to fill the void in her life since her relationship with the guy she dumped you for ended.

If you read my thread, my ex is pulling the same crap. Both of our exes dumped us for other guys for whatever reason (ex. GIGS), but now they are coming back albeit indirectly.

I'm not interested in being any woman's "option" or 2nd choice. Either go for gold or go home. If you want to accept that your ex girlfriend given a choice between you and her ex LD guy would choose the ex LD guy first, go ahead.

Me personally, I cannot swallow such a thought. My pride forbids it.

I suggest you forget about your ex because it is evident she is playing games. And if you truly don't care to be with her then what's the point of meeting her?

Appreciate this post and agree with a lot of what you're saying. Only that I think that it was a complicated situation in the end, and it wasn't as simple as all that. She was away on the other side of the world for almost four months and being young, probably got caught up in it all (she was working at a kids summer camp with a tight nit group). I know this could very well be just something I tell myself to make myself feel better, but I still think It's not as simple as choosing as they're were difficulties on both sides caused by the distance and a break down in communication (mostly her fault but not totally) which ultimately lead to the break up.

I don't necessarily think that given the choice between both of us, in the same situation she would have picked him. If roles were reversed and she was with me for a summer abroad, i'm confident I could have stolen her from the guy if she had tried, given the level of connection we had when we started off.

I also would be interested in finding out if she ended the current relationship with the guy because of me, that sounds unlikely though as I imagine the distance to probably of been the reason, even though I have no idea.

As you say though this is all irrelevant if i don't even want her back. I thought that one day maybe we could give it another try though, once the had matured and the wounds weren't so fresh.

Just don't like feeling that I've been mugged off with these texts.
