Hi everyone,

 

this is actually my first post on Loveshack. I have a story as well, but that'll be for another post.

 

Time does heal. But what also matters is what you DO with the time you have. No contact is not a pain inflicting mechanism, it's a way to get yourself together. You don't want to be a bumbling idiot in front of them.

 

Take time if you know what to do with it. Plan things out. And take the time to look honestly at what happened - most likely you will find one or two things about yourself you could have improved upon. Then, think further back - to when you first got together. What were you like? Did you have the baggage you have now? What preoccupied you at that time?

 

 

I'm not going to say "be that person" since I think we evolve into better people over time. But, know that you were in a better mindset, freer person, and that you didn't know them at the time.

 

 

Just some thoughts. By the way, I've been a long time reader - though was just 'approved' (apparently the moderator woke up recently). Long time reader, and a fan.

Very true. It's not the time but what you do with it. It's why you see people in multi year relationship fully healed in a month and people whom were in a relationship of a few months take multiple years to heal. If you truly take care of yourself healing can be quick and rewarding.

 

But in life, we truly do choose our misery. We could choose to find happiness and the bright side in all things, but in many ways it is easier to just blame the world than to take action.

Positive activities such as biking, traveling, spending time with your family and friends are very effective things to do after the breakup.
