I'm curious about this. It's a question for guys but would love to hear from all.

Would you cross a room at a social function to ask a woman how she is, just out of the kindness of your heart? Suppose you are under no obligation to at all, just happen to be at the same social function and have got talking to her a couple of times.

I've never had a man do this, Spiderowl, who wasn't interested in making more of a connection.

He'll cross, make small talk, offer a drink, so forth, eventually ask for a number or to "go somewhere else."

It's never been just to make sure I'm not lonely.

When I do it, it is usually to say hi and not to check if she is lonely.

I have. It depends how gregarious I'm feeling. It's not often.

If it is someone you know and especially if it's a small function, stopping by to say hi might be considered the polite/socially appropriate thing to do.

If you are wondering if the guy in question is interested in you, it's impossible to tell based on the information provided.

Of course, most people are social creatures, it is also polite.

If I already knew the girl first, I'd do it.

But if she was a stranger, not unless I was interested.

Yes, I would and have done it before. But, if there was an attractive girl who was alone, I would approach her first...
