FeelingLonely98 Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Hi - I've been a vegan for 28 days now. I'm kind of on my own with this and have been learning about it on the net. I'm really into it and I think I'll stick with it long-term Anyway, I'm now single and I would love to have my next GF or SO be a vegan or vegetarian. Anyone have ideas how someone like me might meet like-minded women? I live in So. Fla. Thanks,
dasein Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 So easy, hang out in health food stores, get active and friendly at the gym, go join a yoga class, go to farmer's markets and look for women with full baskets of all kinds of veg. Good luck in your search. EDIT: There have to be forums on that, try searching for them, there will likely be other forum members near you.
FitChick Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Just mention it in your dating profile. Vegans and vegetarians can eat in most restaurants if they read the menu carefully. I don't understand why some people get upset at what other people eat, whether they are carnivores or vegans, since their food doesn't go in your stomach. The only problem I might have dating someone with a restrictive diet is that I like to cook and if he were a raw foodist, it would be a bit more work for me. 1
Author FeelingLonely98 Posted March 18, 2012 Author Posted March 18, 2012 Thanks dasein. Thanks FC. I do all my own cooking and food prep anyway so whoever I date would not have to be burdened any extra because of my diet. PEACE, Alan
cerridwen Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 At an organic grocery store near me, there's a bulletin board advertising various presentations and cooking classes including one for vegans. Cooking classes can be a great way to meet people. Look for something similar at the stores you shop. And there are actual Meetups for vegans and vegetarians.
Author FeelingLonely98 Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 Thanks cerridwen - Good idea. There is a whole foods market opening near me in 10 days!! About the meetups ... how would one go about finding information about these? Thanks! PEACE, Alan

irin Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 "I've been a vegan for 28 days now" lol already refusing to hang out with meat eaters. iv been a vegetarian for 7 years. never met guy who was as well so i just accept the meat eaters.
bikinibeach Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 i'm a vegan too!! thankyou for being kind to animals also Ⓥ The Vegan Forum - a message board for vegans 1
Author FeelingLonely98 Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 irin - I will still have meat loving friends. Would just make life easier if my SO had a similar diet. I would for sure date a non-veg'n if she was right for me. bb --> you're welcome. I did it mostly for the health benefits at first but now I do see animals a bit differently, and I get a different feeling passing thru me when I go thru the meat dept at the local grocery store.
Author FeelingLonely98 Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 Not to mention I've lost 15 lbs by cutting out the cr @ p that I never needed. AND, I'm never hungry.
thatone Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Not to mention I've lost 15 lbs by cutting out the cr @ p that I never needed. AND, I'm never hungry. that's because your stomach shrinks from eating less. you could accomplish the same thing eating bacon and eggs. not trying to burst your bubble but don't get all preachy about vegetarianism to us, or i'll post pics of my dinner (you soak up the blood from that steak with your french bread, that's what it's there for!)
bikinibeach Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 @ thatone totally unneccesary. someone talking about how they are happy with the results they see from a lifestyle change. OH NO ...did you say BLOOD?? CRINGE! SHUDDER! GASP! get a life. you are probably rather unattractive looking. and that delicious bloody steak giving you a disgusting pot belly will ensure that you rely on this website for life!! :bunny:

I do not have a problem eatting with meat eaters and I certainly don't get preachy. I'm not out to save the world. I just want to be as healthy as possible and live as long as possible. If I chose to I could give a million reasons why one should consider a plant-based diet. (Now if we are talking about the mornic Republican party of today - THEN I will get preachy!! lol) He said "BLOOD" - yikes. LOL - I've worked in blood banking all my career. PEACE.
