Meet Ralph Pootawn:

The World's Greatest Second Life Troll

He knows what he likes and he doesn't take 'no' for an answer.

I've got to admire his ambition and tenacity. The 'man's' got legs and he knows how to use them: Don't just walk into a text-based emo site and break a few daisy chains, do what all trolls secretly want to do - walk into anyone you fancy's 'front room' and actually watch them thronging! Lawfully!

I might marry him. ;)

I remember trying out Second Life, and getting hit on by a younger guy who said his girlfriend wouldn't mind - he wanted to have sex there. Odd.

I'd love to be on it 24/7 but my laptop couldn't load it properly.

I don't know which is more shameful.

No, seriously though, do you think are all trolls are sexually frustrated socially-inept losers, with little chance of upward social mobility (as has been suggested elsewhere), or is this analysis grossly unfair?

I'd welcome your opinions on this before I post my personal opinion and experience on the matter.

I think a lot of them are desperate for attention and have no life.

This.

I understand trolling every once in a while for a laugh and for ****s and giggles, but trolling every once in a while usually isn't the case (usually excessive).

Trolls are only trolling because they have no power in the real world.

Feminists should rejoice in this. Disenfranchised young men are reduced to the deep dark corridors of the interweb. Their trolling is proof perfect that the victory is won.

Female trolls exist, too. Just maybe they are far and few between, or they are anonymous to the point of being thought of as a male. Whenever my ex would be nearly bored to death waiting for her sisters to come over for dinner, she'd waste time on Yahoo! Answers by trolling so many questions on there. Good times.

Nope, the need to be antagonistic exists in successful people also. I'd bet USSR could get Anela to go out with him if he was capable of bringing out the same kind of energy in real life. Doesn't seem socially inept to me at all. I think the only thing you can say about trolls for sure is that they have too much free time on their hands.

Hmmn.. not sure Anela would agree! (Do you have anything against her?!)

It's difficult, isn't it? On the one hand, you've got to be rational and remember that there are bored and lonely, and jealous people from all walks of life..

..and I remember doing it myself for about 5 minutes. This was when I realised my first ever mobile phone had access to some kind of real-time text dating service and, at 8.30am, whilst I was on the bus going to work, I realised these complete strangers were trying to have relationships with each other, and get off on each other and stuff. It blew my tiny mind! So I baited them a bit. But, like I said, I couldn't keep it up!

I think a lot of them are desperate for attention and have no life.

...But then, one of them pops up with their ultimate lameness, and this becomes so easy to believe.

Does a troll troll because they feel alienated from society or do they choose to place themselves there because they like to believe they are special?

I have nothing against Anela, she just seems stimulated by his posts and his style.

I don't even know about lonely and jealous. One of the judges on our version of Britain’s Got Talent was doing an interview and when he first started he told the wardrobe department that he only dressed in medieval clothing. So the poor people ended up running around buying 50 sets of medieval outfits for him to wear, when in truth he just intended to wear his regular clothing. He's had a very successful entertainment career and he still enjoys trolling people. I'm sure if he was doing something computer related for a living he'd be on here with USSR and the rest of them messing with us all.

I can't comment on this as I couldn't be arsed to read his thread.

So, this guy just enjoyed the power. And that's what trolls enjoy, isn't it? The attention and the power?

People who have felt powerless in the past can misbehave because they want power. So, they are jealous of the (perceived) power of others?

People who have difficulty communicating with others successfully, like those who troll or your a*shole guy there, tend to act out because of it. BGT guy clearly craved a bit of negative attention, so could that be because he wasn't getting the right attention from someone he wanted it from, could it be that he felt lonely?

Having a successful entertainment career doesn't mean you're not a jealous or lonely individual.

I doubt it.

Actually, I'm so used to arguing lately, that it just seems natural to respond in kind to the threads. I only asked him if he could interact just like everyone else, because I wondered why people do that, and I couldn't believe it when I saw another antagonistic post from him.

I also remembered him from November. I was teasing when I referred to him as "snookums" or whatever it was. I want to run from anyone trying to lay feelings on me, at the moment, and am in no mood to be hit on.
