I met this guy on a social networking site. I don't expect anything to come of it because we live in 2 different countries.

We messaged back and forth a couple of hours with really no more than one lines each, then he told me he thought I was gorgeous and logged out.

Do guys ever say that online just to be nice?

I'm enjoying him. Every time I see log in my heart races and I feel like I'm having a high school crush again, but he really never talks to me.

I know he's single and we like the same music. His profile picture is of him as a teenager and I told him I was shocked that he was really an adult and I said "Wow." over his looks, when he asked what that meant I told him I thought he was a handsome guy, he said, no, I'm not, but you are beyond gorgeous. Was he being polite by telling me that? Why doesn't he talk to me more? Could he be shy?

I'd just enjoy getting to know him a little.

Any way I can catch his attention again without being obvious?

He's probably married.

If you have his phone number you can call and talk to him...

If you're in two different countries, and he's interested, he'll progress from being a keyboard Romeo to knocking at your door. The signs along the path are like canaries. If they're singing, invest as you pass. If they're dead, pay attention to that sign.

And sometimes you have to twist their little necks when you find out you're with a time waster.

Be proactive, but detach some, it sounds like you are already investing quite a bit of response into a completely unknown quantity.
