Well the canned answer is you back it up or you just do it without talking about it but I have a feeling that's not what your talking about exactly. Your afraid to excel because you believe people will perceive you as arrogant? Or am I off the mark there too?

An example is when a person walks with confidence. Some people may find that person arrogant for doing so.

When someone talks with confidence some people finds that person arrogant even though he is just trying to be friendly.

If you where truly arrogant you wouldn't care so the problem comes down to your perception of others rather than their perception of you.

So fear is what is holding you back, but fear of what people think of you, not so much the arrogance. Why?
