Then again, perhaps it depends on your definition of "older". The biggest age difference I personally have experienced was a guy 5 yrs old than me when I was 23. I don't know if that is considered an "older guy", obviously he is technically older, but is it a large enough of a difference in age to make a difference? Anyway, I have always preferred guys my own age. Current BF is 2 yrs younger than I am I've never known anyone IRL who dated a guy significantly older than her. 1
Teal Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Older men I've taken interest in generally had significantly more developed and complex personalities than younger men, were fairly set in their ways, and were charming and intelligent, which I've struggled to find in my own age range and social groups (closest I've gotten was a borderline sociopath). I've never been in a relationship with one - I've had very few since I'm mostly solitary - but I do notice and I do think about it. 1

The fact that a guy is older implies he is a survivor and has won some tests of time. To men it's the opposite, they are often "naturally" attracted to "unsoiled" youth. Speak for yourself Really? Older men see younger women as women out of their league. Older men worship younger women even if the women are fat, ugly, stupied, crazy or whatever. Older men typically take younger women to expensive restaurants on the first date. Older men consider themselves blessed if they get married younger women. Older men treat younger women as a perfect daddy would treat them. Most women have never had a perfect daddy and they always wanted to have him. Younger women do not need to put any effort in relationship with older guys because older men take care for everything and have no demands. Also, no sex is needed in a long-term relationship with an older man. As for a short-term relationship, there much less sex is needed with an older guy.

In my experience the young girls dating men that much older than them at that age had issues younger guys wouldnt even want to deal with. Plus we know the older dudes just wanted to "get it in". Prolly told her how different and mature she was. I think its damn predatory for a guy over 30 to be chasing down teenagers. Never mind the illegality of it depending on the girls age. Its funny how some young gals get hoodwinked by older men when they actually want you more for sex than guys your own age. If thats what a chick wants, then cool, but we know plenty of chicks want a real relationship and want to be valued for something other than their age and looks.

Prior to that I dated guys around my age. Honestly most of the guys who approach me are in their 30's (I'm 24). Which is fine, as long as they're attractive and take care of themselves. I find my current boyfriend at 31 extremely attractive...he looks his age, but he stays fit, is tall and muscular, and has a handsome face. If I were single and out and about and some 20-something guy approached me, I wouldn't turn him down. I don't specifically seek out guys who are older. They're just the ones I've gotten along with well. The fact that they tend to be more experienced, established, and stable is a bonus to be sure, but I'm not denying that those properties exist within my age group. As for the "daddy issue" thing, those women are out there; absolutely. But to make a blanket statement like that about any woman who chooses to date an older guy seems equivalent to calling a guy who dates younger ladies a "creep" or "pedophile."

Now when you have to explain that you're moving halfway across the world to marry an American to your overly protective father, then you have an awkward conversation. An age difference is easy. They are smarter when it comes to women because (in general) they have lots of learning experience. They are just so much easier to date. 1

Better make sure they have the right answer to THAT one, or it's no sex for the guy!! When they go out, it's endless questions like "Why did you talk to that girl??!!" Silly things like that. Younger women have LOTS of drama... but older men don't mind because they can tell all their friends they have a younger girlfriend, and that is what is most important to them. Who cares what they have to put up with at home? As long as their friends are impressed, that is all that matters. Besides, when the woman starts to show her age, he can always dump her for a younger model. No biggie. 1

It depends on how well a person takes care of themself if they will age good. Im surprised you drink the koolaid that tells us guys age better than chicks. Dudes get stomachs, go bald, and get wrinkles. Women get wrinkles, cellulite, and gain weight too. Older folks generally want younger folks for their looks and sex. The other stuff you mentioned can be found in people of their age group...they just refuse to look for it.

Younger males would love, love, love to have an older woman in their life; they are just nervous about approaching her because they feel they don't have anything to offer. I can't tell you how many countless times I've heard young guys say they would love a sugar momma; love older women. LS makes a big deal about women aging, but I have not seen the proof of that in real life. In real life, there are far more old men who are single loners than women. Women in general have a lot more experience under their belt, both sexually and in terms of partners, especially as she gets older. I just have not seen it slack off for women at all. Older women can be very harsh though and cynical. Young girls are nicer, but whimsical and change their mind a lot.

For the record, I've always been more attracted to women my age or a couple years older. I just think it's amusing at how bent some guys get about other peoples personal choices. Having said that let me clarify one more thing however; I strongly believe that until someone is in there early 20's they should not be dating anyone 5 or more years older than them. I'll have to kind of add to what oldguy said. I have a decade on my wife and it hasn't hurt us a bit. She's more mature than my ex-wife who was older than I am. My current wife has never had a problem with our age differences but then I don't act my age. In other words I don't sit around "acting old" as some guys do in the 40s and 50s. I'm mature and responsible, but I work out regularly, stay active, and I don't have the lacking sexual libido of some of these nitwit husbands that women come here to post complaints about routinely. On top of that, my interests are varied so I'm not stagnant mentally like so many 20-somethings who want to bar-hop, text message, play video games, or sit on their laptops. I've run into girls younger who show interest or flirt a bit. Aside from being married and therefore not interested or available, I've always been far more interested in the maturity aspect of the woman young or old than if she's the greatest looking woman on the planet. Looks can only take you so far. If she's low maintenance with good enough looks she's gold. Age by the way is the product of the mind. Stay as active as you were at 20 and you'll find the aging process isn't quite so bad.

There's also that many men take women are less visual to mean women are blind and thus think looks are not important and they don't have to care about presentation. There there are the men who think clean and not fat equates attractive..for a male somehow facial features and other factors are only for female attractiveness. To me the only advantage in aging looks men have is that they have thicker skin than women so wrinkles appear a little later.

Older guys def don't want sex as bad as a 20 something...and that is one of the reasons girls like older guys- cuz they have more dimensions to them than just having/getting sex (of course young pervs with no game just become ol pervs with no game who never got any so yes, they do possibly get even more desperate w age)... But a guy who did well with the ladies in his 20s does even better with them as he ages (and I hope I don't hafta explain why that is) - if he stays in shape and keeps growing his career, social circle etc). Hey b4 you just fire back- keep in mind that this is a good thing for (the desireable) guys! 1
