singlelife Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I see this all the time and was wondering what is the attraction for her. I mean except money lol, because I see the women really like these guys.
nick d Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I'm not a woman, but I think the reason is they are more mature and experienced. 3
kaylan Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 In my experience most chicks my age are dating dudes around their age. Not that many are dating dudes spectacularly much older than them. What do you consider "older"?
oldguy Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 This is what I've been told, so don't shoot the messenger; a lot of young guys are to into themselves or too immature. It had nothing to do with money, trust me on that one:laugh:. 4
kaylan Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Also...in regards to the maturity shtick...women like to think they are more mature then guys their age, but in my experience thats hardly true. They are just as immature as the dudes...difference is that older men who want some young action will tell the younger girls how "mature and different" they are. Basically a way to butter them up. Obviously Im making a generalization here. But thats just my take. Not that Im the most mature guy, but Ive been quite surprised that women my age (mid 20s) seem just as immature as they were when I was in my late teens and early 20s....no lie.
123321 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I see this all the time and was wondering what is the attraction for her. I mean except money lol, because I see the women really like these guys. Some women are hung up on age but many are not, and in my experience it's not that they look for older guys it's that they happen to find what they want in a older guy. Some won't date older and of course some only find older guys attractive but those are both less common. 2
udolipixie Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I see this all the time and was wondering what is the attraction for her. I mean except money lol, because I see the women really like these guys. The difference guys and gals is that women can overlook physical aging more than men and can be more swayed by personality and inner qualities or money. A young gal can be attracted to a man in his 30s/40s who looks it. A young guy or even a guy in his 30s/40s is unlikely to find a 30s/40s gal attractive unless she looks younger than her age as men highly value youth/beauty. So it's not so much as young women are attracted to older men it's more ofa young women can be attracted to older men. I know very few gals who are attracted to a guy based on his increased years I do know a lot of gals who won't fault a guy for aging or see him as less attractive unlike many guys. 3
oldguy Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Yet it's interesting that all the strong reactions here are from guys who know what woman want & why they want it. For the record, I've always been more attracted to women my age or a couple years older. I just think it's amusing at how bent some guys get about other peoples personal choices. Having said that let me clarify one more thing however; I strongly believe that until someone is in there early 20's they should not be dating anyone 5 or more years older than them. 2
musemaj11 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 (edited) Women of all ages want a man who is better than them. Older men are generally wealthier, have higher status, more intelligent, more mature, more experienced, etc. Whats funny is that the young women who complain that guys their age are immature are most often than not immature themselves. CarrieT Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 As a woman, I have ALWAYS been attracted to older men. In my teens, I dated men who were close to 40. In my 20s, my relationships were with contemporaries, but I always looked at guys in their 40s and 50s and slept with a lot of them. In my 40s, I was dating men in their 60s and north of that... It is a confidence factor, yes. For me, it was also that men who are significantly older know what they want and they go get it. A lot of men my age are/where still floundering to figure out what they wanted and within relationships, it was two equal; I wanted a man who would take charge. My current BF is only a few years older than me, but he is a Dom and I like having him take the lead in the relationship. 2
somedude81 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Not as far as I've seen. I'm 30 and the girls in their early 20's have never responded to me. Though early 20's girls didn't like me when I was their age either.
Ruby Slippers Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 In my experience, older men treat me more like a young hottie, and that's always fun. They offer many of the old-fashioned perks -- being a gentleman, providing, wanting a commitment, etc. All my serious relationships have been with guys right around my age. But in dating some older guys the past few years, I've seen this dynamic play out over and over. 1

While it was a bit of an ego boost I've always been attracted to women my age or a bit older. Edited March 15, 2012 by oldguy 1

Bob_Funk Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 LOL... just... LOL. I think it's time to dispell this myth once and for all. Guys peak at around 21. The furthur you get from that age, the harder it's going to be to attract young girls. By the time you hit 30, you're f***ed. Your pussy-getting days, if you had any to begin with, are over. In fact, even women over 30 won't want you. The "good" news for most guys, as somedude81 highlighted, is that nothing will really change. Girls were indifferent towards them when they were young anyway.
Paper Roses Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 When I was 20, my bf was 42, drove my mom crazy. He had his sh*t together, could hold an actual conversation with me, never went out and got wild with his buddies and didn't grope at me every time I was with him. He had money and his own business and took me to wonderful places. However, in the end, the age difference was too much, he started seeming like an old man and I wanted my insane 20 year old boys back.
Woggle Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Women like men that show them new things and introduce them to new experiences. A man with more experience tends to be better equipped to do that. It has nothing to do with actual age. My wife proposed the day after I spend the day driving her around my old haunts in NYC. 1
setsenia Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I see this all the time and was wondering what is the attraction for her. I mean except money lol, because I see the women really like these guys. Could be several reasons. Depends on how big the age disparity. My husband is 6 years older and I don't feel the difference whatsoever because I feel older than I am. Although, if you mean 20 years apart, there could be several reasons for that also. A lot of them could be looking for financial security (in which nowadays you have to be in your mid late thirties to be financially set career wise) and in some cases, residency and citizenship.
FitChick Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I've always preferred younger men or men my age. Many women do. As long as they are gainfully employed. This thread is a retread of one or more others, so the OP might want to do a search.
Feelin Frisky Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Besides the rationalizations I think there is something in nature that is also at play. The fact that a guy is older implies he is a survivor and has won some tests of time. To men it's the opposite, they are often "naturally" attracted to "unsoiled" youth. 1
RedRobin Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Because lots of men have been raised to value women primarily for looks/attractiveness and don't see their much older status as predatory and destructive. For young women who have not had healthy examples of fatherhood, they think this attention equates with love... they are only repeating unhealthy validation patterns they learned growing up. 3
ThaWholigan Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Depends on the individual. In general, some women seem to be predisposed to older men (for varying reasons), and some to younger men (also for varying reasons), it greatly varies according to the individual. Sometimes it varies within the individual. My mother had a couple of older boyfriends in her early 20s, and her current partner is about 10 years younger. It's never as concrete, and I think that the allure of experience and maturity can wear off when other minor character traits rise to the surface of view. 1

I've been repeatedly told that the reason I do bad with younger girls is because I'm too much older than them.
