TheSingleGuy Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 This is from Genesis, Chapter 2. And the Lord God said, it is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him. I believe everything that was written in the Bible, but that verse, especially, is one I've committed to memory. For me, as a guy, it is VERY, VERY true. I'm so much happier when I've got a woman in my life who is digging me. Yet, it seems that every woman I date always seems to say "I don't need a man". So, I'm wondering if men need women, but, women don't need men??? Is that how God created us?
JesseJames Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 They are filled with demons!!! Find an exorcist and bring him along with you on dates.
The Outlaw Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 He created us with the intent to have someone in our lives (or so has been said) and it's really up the choice of the man or woman on whether or not they wish to be with someone, or alone. Some women might just say they don't need a man because of previous bad relationships, or, they are just happy being single.
InJest Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I believe everything that was written in the Bible.. I really pity you. 5
somedude81 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Yeah I believe it. I've lived without a woman for my entire life and I feel absolutely horrible. I've been this way since I was a teenager and now I'm 30.

Just because women you date state they don't need a man doesn't mean their feelings are what the majority of women feel. To me you a woman doesn't need a man nor does a man need a woman especially with different sexual orientations. My view is that you don't need a partner you want one and some people don't feel their lives are less happy/enriched/etc without a partner. I thought God created women to help mate and be subservient than men not too sure on my bible readings as it changes so often.
TaraMaiden Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 .....I'm so much happier when I've got a woman in my life who is digging me. Yet, it seems that every woman I date always seems to say "I don't need a man". So, I'm wondering if men need women, but, women don't need men??? Is that how God created us? you got it pal. She was very clever that way..... 1

2sunny Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I will make a helper suitable for him. That is the way it should read...? Why do you assume it means a woman? It just infers that we shouldn't do life "alone" You can have friends! Sheez, it's not always about having a woman. Get out and make FRIENDS!
somedude81 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 You'll never be really happy with any woman until youre happy being by yourself. The only way to actually know for sure is to get a woman first. Bob_Funk Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Guys want girls way more than vice versa. On every level.
2sunny Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 A helper can be male or female... Do you have "helpers" in your life? It doesn't say everyone must have the opposite sex - get married... It says start helping people... Especially hose you deem unworthy (judgement). Show mercy for others - have tolerance and compassion for others... Are you DOING that? Or are you mainly thinking and doing for yourself?
2sunny Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 The only way to actually know for sure is to get a woman first. Because the helper was Eve not Evan. So what? Doesn't matter if it was Eve or Bob... It was Eve that got him into trouble... Maybe he SHOULD HAVE picked Bob or Joe to help!
Author TheSingleGuy Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 Wow, interesting. That does shed a whole new light on all the dating advice here at LoveShack. I didn't realize just how hated the Bible is by the world in general. The world truly does hate the word of God. By the way, as another poster pointed out, the help-meet God created for Adam was Eve. Not Bob.

I hope you know that much.

So, I'm wondering if men need women, but, women don't need men??? Is that how God created us? This sounds like a question more for the spirituality forum than here, where you'll have differing opinions about The Bible. From a critical reading perspective (I am not Christian, but I have read The Bible), let's look at the whole verse: The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” 19 Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals. But for Adam[f] no suitable helper was found. 21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs[g] and then closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib[h] he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. 23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” 24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. 25 Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame. When God first realizes it's not good for Adam to be alone, he brings him livestock and the man names the animals but they are not a suitable helper (note, the Bible never says partner---it's certainly not an egalitarian society this work is projecting). So, God takes a part of Adam (man) and makes Eve (woman), a suitable helper. As Eve is a part that was taken out of him, that metaphorically suggests they are forever linked --- Adam will forever search for the part of him that is missing, and Eve will forever be draw to her whole. Of course, that's just from reading the passage. I don't believe any of that actually relates to human life. Generally speaking if you're dating women who just want to be single, either you're dating the wrong women (many women would enjoy a partner) or they just don't want to go out with you. I don't think God or Adam or Eve or Genesis have much to do with it.
TaraMaiden Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I think what Emilia means is that even though some texts can be traced back thousands of years, the literal changes, translations and interpretations are post-Christ, and there is no doubt that much of what is written therein currently, is in all probability mistranslated, misinterpreted and mis-presented. remember that the original term for Mary was not 'virgin' but young maiden. there is nothing in the original texts to denote that she was a virgin. but it just suited the purpose of the catholic Council who convened in around 400AD, to define her as so....
somedude81 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 So what? Doesn't matter if it was Eve or Bob... It was Eve that got him into trouble... Maybe he SHOULD HAVE picked Bob or Joe to help! If it didn't matter, then God would have made another man.
somedude81 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 As Eve is a part that was taken out of him, that metaphorically suggests they are forever linked --- Adam will forever search for the part of him that is missing, and Eve will forever be draw to her whole. I never actually saw it that way but it make perfect sense.
stillafool Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Most feminists would say they don't need a Man or even want one. Were feminists created by Lucifer to use and torment men? If feminist women don't need or want a man it is doubtful that they would be in a man's company to torment him. So I think the answer to your question is no feminists were not created by Lucifer to use and torment men. They wouldn't give men a second thought.
TaraMaiden Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Were misogynists invented by Lucifer to use & subjugate women throughout the millennia....? 1
udolipixie Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Most feminists would say they don't need a Man or even want one. Were feminists created by Lucifer to use and torment men? If feminists say they don't need or even want a man how are they using men? Are you implying that saying one doesn't need/want men is tormenting them? People aren't obligated to have sex and relationships if they don't desire it.
Anela Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 So what? Doesn't matter if it was Eve or Bob... It was Eve that got him into trouble... Maybe he SHOULD HAVE picked Bob or Joe to help! thanks for the chuckle. Most of the bible seems to about us little tramps being bad news. And yet we're supposedly made in god's image.
Anela Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Then it should be "And the Lord God said, it is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him, that digeth him and thus makes sandwiches for him, so says the LORD" What is the obsession with sandwiches? Why not switch it up a little?
