I'm a film fanatic currently coping with a breakup and I have found that some films that involve the breakup theme help teach a few lessons in healing and help me remain positive during this period of my life.

It's a bit corny but when you're as soft as I am inside, it helps :)

So what are some of the best films that helped you keep positive during a breakup and mourn the loss? (as of 2012, for guys and girls.)

So far the 3 I've seen which made me smile are:

  • Diary of a Mad Black Woman (ridiculous film but it has a nice message)

    • Along Came Polly

  • Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind (Someone on LS recommended it and I loved it!)

I'd love to know what you guys recommend, I'm planning to watch Breakup movies continuously until I'm sick of them and past this stage!

For teen: the art go getting by

For young: 500 days of summer

For married: ah I forgot about title, it is about a men at Hawaii, his wife gonna dead and he have to tell everyone about it. He also rebuild himself and his family, found out that his wife cheated on him but he truly forgave her and did a right last thing for her.... And then he decided a big deal to be a man he want

I just found it: the descendants

For hope in: crazy, stupid, love

For move on: funny people, 50/50

For me: how I met your mother

This seri is great to spend hard time, when I miss exes, I watch it, and I feel better then... To believe destIny will give me a right one in someday, to simple my pain and learn some experience life, make fun, or just try to find who the hell is "mother"

I know some people have a strong negative reaction to Woody Allen, but these two films are smart, funny, poignant masterpieces:

1. Annie Hall

2. Hannah and her Sisters

They may be older films, but they're brilliant!

I have heard many people recommend Swingers as a good movie to watch.

"Ghosts of Girlfriends Past"

Any Judy Garland movie--her musicals make me smile and take me elsewhere for awhile

"The Sound of Music"

"Alone in the Wilderness" Parts 1 and 2:)

For couple who is in ' getting back' stage: the notebook

for someone who were a rebound: blue valentine

for couple in hard time: 50 first day

for married problem: grown up

for who bu due to cheating: old school

every movie just the same, grow up, change to better and then move to next stage, move on or hold back, then u will find ur soulmate or right one who truly for u, that called destiny. So, just stand up and live for yourself, u just need sb for it and accepted that u cant do anything if there wasnt true love at begin, and if it was, nothing could hide it!

For me it has to be 'he's just not that into you'. Basically telling us what we already know but in a funny way. If he doesn't call, text or email or make any attempt at communicating then he's really just not into you.

Woody Allen has been mentioned, I recommend "Match Point"- so that you get the picture how lucky some are, very different view on relationships.

Then I would say try the recent "Midnight in Paris", you get the picture how easy, nice and effortless it would be to connect with someone, someone who is better than your ex youre sobbing over now.

For rejectees- I suggest recent "Young Adult". Sometimes you got to snap out, take a look at this from aside. Be crazy for a while, but dont let this consume too much of you.

This older one with Meg Ryan was on TV and I found it amusing and appropriate for these times- "Addicted to Love", 1997. Addicted to Love (1997) - IMDb

You will laugh, I guarantee =)

chuck and buck! i know it's an odd choice. but since he and i were never really in a relationship -- i could relate to it. i found the end to be particularly uplifting...
