SomewhatExperienced Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 For the ladies, I have curly, thick, dark brown hair and I feel like when I grow it out long (not rock star long, but below my ears) I get more frequent attention from women. I've dated a few girls, one in particular, who loved my hair so much that when I cut it she stopped returning my texts (though there were other circumstances that could have caused that). Is this affection for curly hair really widespread? I usually go between cycles of having it long and keeping it short (I usually keep it short in the summer because it keeps me warm and it's less manageable). I'm getting to the point where I want to cut it, but I do like attention from girls. What do you think?
Million.to.1 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 They do say that "curls get the girls" I love curls on guys... and i think curly hair generally looks better with a bit of length on it. I know, I have curls too. I get ALOT more attention when my hair is longer, even though i personally prefer a bob length for maintenance reasons. There is something really fun about guys with crazy hair. I'd say, keep the curls. They are a bitch, but they are worth it sometimes.
tigressA Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 *swoooooon* I go CRAZY for guys with curly/wavy hair!! It always gets a second (third, fourth, fifth...) look from me. Keep it! P.S. Picture? Please? 1
kaylan Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 You should change your user name to Samson. This. OP, I had shoulder length dreads that I cut back in August. Now my hair is shorter spikier dreads. Think mids to late 90s Marlon Wayans. You wouldnt believe the difference in attention when my hair was long vs now. I noticed as my hair grew out, way more chicks would just up and talk to me. Now that my hair is shorter again, Ive lost some of my mojo. Def grow the hair.
mesmerized Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 You're lucky you're a guy. Men on the other hand hate natural curly hair on women. Oh how I wish I was a man!
Mister Ripley Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 So the whole point of this thread is to boast about your hair for attention? What a catch

Men included. (and not in a sexual way) Dreads definitely give off "i'm a laid back cool dude who is creative and fun" vibe. I think longer hair on men give this impression to a certain degree too. Woman are attracted to that. 1
mesmerized Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Yeah, as a naturally curly girl myself I notice this a lot too. It is a bummer. Men are all after some glamorous, dolled up look that is completely approved by media. Anything else is at the best "kinda cute".
Author SomewhatExperienced Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 Men are all after some glamorous, dolled up look that is completely approved by media. Anything else is at the best "kinda cute". Completely disagree. I know many men, myself included, who aren't attracted to dolled up movie star looking girls. Of course, it can be fun to look, but they certainly aren't the kind I'm interested in approaching to ask on a date. The cute, laid-back, cool, girl next-door-type is the one who has me thinking about her afterwards. The hot, make-up covered, tight jeans with cleavage types stick in my mind as much as the magazine ads they try to imitate. Just as there are in fact women out there who want to hot, built, professional athlete type of guys with lots of money, that isn't at all what most women really want (even if most men on this forum don't want to believe it). As for my hair, this has me thinking I want to keep it, but it's really a cost/benefit thing: how much extra attention for how much hassle? Not quite sure yet. I may end up trying to keep it then experience a super hot humid day where I just get it cut-off on a whim. 1

Well, if what you say is true, you are very rare. I did a simple test..When I had my cute little innocent pics up which I liked very much, not many men messaged me, certainly not many attractive ones. As soon as I put on one where I'm dolled up with my makeup and everything is when all the men start messaging me. Same happens in real life.
ThaWholigan Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 You're lucky you're a guy. Men on the other hand hate natural curly hair on women. Oh how I wish I was a man! This is a LIE!!!! I LOVE CURLY HAIR ON WOMEN!!!!!

As soon as I put on one where I'm dolled up with my makeup and everything is when all the men start messaging me. Same happens in real life. Interesting. I recall reading an article in a woman's magazine years ago where the writer created identical profiles but in one she was wearing a red dress which showed her cleavage and heavier evening makekup, and another one with her wearing a simple white shirt unbuttoned that extra button but not showing anything and more natural makeup. She got more men responding to the white shirt photo. She concluded men wanted the girl next door, not the glamor puss.
FrustratedStandards Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I personally love hair like that too. It's just different, and it's sexy. Hair represents youth and health. The more you have the more attractive. Cut it if you want. It will always grow back. But if you still want the attention, I suggest you only trim it about an inch, and keep it long enough to be long, but short enough to be comfortable. Just by reading this post I just wanna run my fingers through your hair. Mmmm.. 2

But for me, the innocent natural pics didn't work though I think I'm prettier in them lol

As soon as I put on one where I'm dolled up with my makeup and everything is when all the men start messaging me. Same happens in real life. This may be normal, but it may be based on area and/or social milieu, or perhaps I spend time with other guys who tend to think more or less like to me. But being approached/PM'd by when you're all dolled up may also be a product of the personality of guys who like that kind of girl. It may be fair to say that guys who like the girl next door may not have as aggressive tendencies when it comes to approaching women. Edited March 8, 2012 by SomewhatExperienced
silvermercy Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Just stopping by to add that I looooove longer hair in men. It just gives them more sex appeal most of the time. Whoever decided that acceptable haircuts in modern men should only be short, needs to be pushed the edge of a cliff and die a horrible death. (Just kidding about the last part. No, I'm not actually. No, actually I am... No really...)
stillafool Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Dark, thick, curly hair on men is sooo sexy. Keep it trimmed but don't get rid of those curls.

If he cuts it, I wouldn't die, but I'd be comatose till I got used to it lol. Anyways, men who look good with longish hair also look good with cut hair. Wear your hair how you want.

I didn't like the movie all that much but I LOVED the long hair of Antonio Banderas and in the movie Troy, I loved Brad Pitt's long hair!
Mr. Savage Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I've got some thick curly hair and am currently growing it out for the first time in 15 years. I cant wait to do all kinds of crazy things with it. What do chicks think of corn rows? Too thug?
