Why do dumb people get offended by others being concerned about them?

Concern is asking and then offering assistance

When a person is constantly asking over and over it's obvious they are being NOSEY so they can spread the information to other people like how most family members do

Why are you always unemployed? Did you ever manage to get any furniture for your apartment?

We talked last night briefly and then I sent her text this morning saying to have a nice day. Then I get a text that said

"How the job search going?

Now first I don't know if she is monitoring my job progress so she can see if I'm serious about working or really concerned. Either way it's a question I hate from family or friends and since we don't know each other that well she doesn't know that question gets under my skin. So I will have to let her know in a NICE PLEASANT WAY not to ever ever ask me that question again. And it's because I could have just received a rejection letter and that question will make me think of that. So it's best if she never ever asked that again.

BTW: Why do people ask that dumb question anyway?

It's not a dumb question. She just wants to know, because she cares.

"Training" is not really the correct word concerning letting her know how you feel about her question. You can just tell her it bothers you because it makes you feel bad, so if she could please not ask and as soon as you get a job, you'll let her know and y'all can celebrate?

she just has to be smart enough not to

1. Complain about her job

2. Ask me how my job search is going

Because why would a unemployed person who can't find any jobs at all to apply to want to hear someone who has a job moan and groan? It makes more sense for them to complain to a employed person

Well I just told her not to ask me anymore in a nice pleasant way. Now if she forgets and asked me again her number will be blocked

When a person is constantly asking over and over it's obvious they are being NOSEY so they can spread the information to other people like how most family members do

Well. So, she asked you this one time and this is where it goes for you. God forbid she should express interest in your job situation - obviously a source of concern for you - because that means she's golddigging AND interested in spreading gossip around, rather than trying to be a concerned friend/date. And God forbid she should complain about her job, because that means she's rubbing salt into your wounds, rather than just talking about her day. God forbid she should talk about her job at all anyway, because men don't care about a woman's intellectual pursuits. If she forgets one of these rules, she will be blocked immediately. And if she talks about something else you deem unnecessary or too deep or too anything, she's oatmeal-headed (see previous PhillyDude threads).

Gotcha.

Feels like the right time to repost this:

Judging by all your threads, you are almost certainly the most difficult person to talk to on the face of this green Earth. Kudos to that, I guess.

How's that working out for you?

Republican was elected as the Governor for PA in 2011 and i work in Non-Profit which means.............

That's why I'm unemployed

I would sing for money in a public park before I apply to a fast food job

The money in that is often better than working.

I agree.

I agree.

Telemarketing is better than fast food jobs. Telemarketing helps you develop marketing skills and fast food helps you develop DEEP FRIED dumping skills. lol

The money from busking is better then both. That's my point.

I would rather busk/pan then go bust my ass working fast food to get nowhere.

You can go back to school busking/panning, going back to school on fast food wages is next to impossible these days.

Of course it depends what area you are in.

I didn't have time today because some girl was sitting on my face

Philly! Finally, some funny stuff out of you.

More funny and light, and less defensiveness and rage, and your dating life should be looking up :)

I am currently looking for summer employment. I've had some interviews but I need a definite "yes" and I need to get some legal experience.

I cringe everytime someone asks me about "Do I have a job yet?" mostly because it's all competitive in law school; everyone wants to be summer associate at the big law firms or working for the DOJ or a federal judge or nonprofit. It's mostly people being nosy about it.

The other thing I wanted to say is I have just got out of undergraduate. When I was in college, I applied my first and second year for Walmart, Target and fast food joints. I heard nothing. I thought surely a student of my caliber from a good school would get at least a job working at a fast food joint.

Nothing. Dollar General, Burger King, Taco Bell, Bookstores, I never got called back for minimum wage jobs.

There is so much competition with minimum wage jobs because of 1) highschool and college students 2) and low-attainment adults that there are hardly any jobs temporarily opened. Just because a place is hiring all the time doesn't mean they're hiring in your area, hiring your type of employment (full-time/part-time/seasonal), all of that has to be taken into consideration.

And it's who you know also when it comes to fast food jobs. Lots of people think because it's a minimum wage fast food job that they will get hired instantly.

Exactly. That's another thing that got annoying to hear after awhile when I wasn't unemployed, but at a job I hated. "At least you have a job" no matter how much I hated it. So, whenever she asks you how the job search is going and starts complaining about her job, say "At least you have a job". LOL!

Are you sure you are not nit-picking on this girl, because deep down inside you are not really that much into her?

I used to fault guys I wasn't into for really small stuff instead of realizing that I was just not that into them.

I won't exclude the possibility though that you're pretty immature and a smarta**. :)

It's a perfectly normal ?. Dude, why you dating when you don't have a job? Shouldn't you be focused on a job search first? Deep down you know this is probably why that ? bugs you. Train her? She's not a dog.
