I posted another thread on here this week.

Cliff's notes version:

I met a girl on Sunday evening, got her number. She texted me 30 minutes later, I responded with "It was nice meeting you too."

I called her on the phone Monday evening, we talked for 7 minutes on the phone and agreed to meet for a drink on Thursday evening.

Thursday morning, I sent a text message saying "Happy Thursday". She did not respond. That afternoon, at 4:15 she sends a text saying she just got called into work, 6 to close.

This is NORMAL for me on first dates. It's happened with 95% of my first dates over the last 3 years.

There was no contact with her on Tuesday or Wednesday and it was determined that because of my radio silence for those two full days, she lost all interest.

Next time I get a new number, I plan to call the following day (I used to wait three days). But should I text her every day? Every other day? I read in another thread on here that a guy should never let more than 3 days go by without a phone call.

Rant: After getting her number that night, my 12 year old daughter warned me not to call her that night because I will look desperate. I've known this "rule" for a long time now. But usually, after exchanging numbers with a girl, they text me right away, within an hour. It just seems like I have a set of rules to follow but the women don't. It's very frustrating. I would never connect the dots that a woman who sends a text message right after exchanging numbers must be desperate. But apparently, those dots can be connected when it's the other way around.

I'm very confused. I don't want to come off desperate but I don't want to seem uninterested either. I just want to get a date that doesn't flake out at the last minute.
