how do you feel about receiving old school, hand-written love letters? snail mail and all?

I think it's a sweet indicator that someone thought to spend the time & energy to do it---instead of firing off a text that took all of 20 seconds.

An actual letter is real-it can be held in your hand.

And seeing someone's handwriting is like hearing their voice---it's absolutely unique.

That's how I feel about it--I think it's a thoughtful & lovely gesture.

My gal and I make each other little homemade cards swith a few words and a drawing or two. She keeps hers on her fridge (her 19 year old daughter and friends read them and have commented that they wish their boyfriends would do something as romatic).

We don't send them snail mail. However, your post makes me want to send one snail mail for the fun of it.

So sweet!

I love getting letters (though I like any kind of lovey-dovey message). I only get coupons in the mail, for the most part, so going snail mail is extra special. :)

I would absolutely love it. It takes more effort than text/email, and that would not go unnoticed by me :)

I love it, natch.

If a man really loves you, he'll probably love it too. My husband is more awkward and stoic about it than your average girl, but I recently discovered he's kept every IM/email between us, and has a box of mementos and handwritten cards from our courtship and anniversaries, etc. He's sentimental, but he's gotta be secretive about it

  • 2 weeks later...

I have always written to my special friends and loved ones, and am sure to do some dense colorful artwork on the envelope. Not a single rejection from the post office so I imagine they might find it neat every once in a while. I get a huge kick out of the whole mystery behind it, the waiting, the not knowing when or if she got it... I have even written to complete strangers before just the heck of it (not just randomly, like someone I just met online) it just feels good and knowing it puts a smile on someone's face is the ultimate reward :)

I think it's a lovely way to let the recipient know that you're thinking about them, especially in this age of instant communication. A hand-written letter/note says "you're worthy of the time it took to pen this" ...

hadn't heard from a girlfriend in awhile, and decided to send her a letter by mail. I know she's busy with work and with two small children, and figured this would be a nice way to give her personal time. Had to battle crappy spelling because I'm so used to writing stuff on the computer, and felt a little bad that she had to decipher chicken-scratch when she's got absolutely LOVELY penmanship herself, but I got an email from her saying how much she enjoyed finding that letter in her mailbox.

so never, ever underestimate the power of a personal note
