I'm confused about his jobs. He is a pro ball player but also has two OTHER demanding jobs back to back? How can one manage that?

He used to play in the Minors, but he's signing with an independent league. The 2012 season doesn't start until summer, so he's dividing his time working for his dad in the city and teaching baseball part time. He works from morning until night, with commute in-between. I thought I had it bad when I was working two jobs during the winter, but he literally works himself to the point of fatigue.

I've asked him why he does this to himself but he hasn't given me a straight answer. He's very independent, and doesn't really want to rely on his family's business to make a living. He literally hasn't had a day off since he graduated school. The only time he has taken the day off was to spend Monday with me.

I think its that hes still trying to make it pro. If he was already pro hed be on the road already. Spring training is just about to start up for the baseball season as well.

Yes Kay, he wants to go pro. I have seen his family pictures when I was over at his place, he started playing ball really young and has continued to play in high school and college.

Independents who start their season in the summer still have tryouts and start training like...in mid-March.

Well props to the dude for still trying to play baseball for a living. Most guys give up after things dont work out in the minors. So best of luck to him in the independent circuit. Hes doing what he loves even if it wont get him to the majors. Admirabl

He'll probably end up with a coaching gig or front office job of some kind if he really is dedicated to the game. Lots of guys go that route.

True...but you need to stick around Mlb and milb teams to have a shot at that really.

Or make some good connections and networks. A chick I went to HS with is making good dough working at the MLB offices in New York. Got that job 'cause she knew somebody who knew somebody. That's half the game right there.

While I'm glad you've found someone who appears to be nice (too early to judge), being thin is very important to you. Let's pretend that he doesn't get back into shape. What then?

That's not to say this can't work. Just be cognizant about your own needs before you hurt him down the road, particularly if he gains more weight.

I feel sorry for this chump and all the chumps like him in the world.

The only reason women give them a chance (and its only a chance) is because they feel that these guys are exploitable ('willing to go out of their way').

He is teaching ball and also working a front desk job. His dad wants him to work fulltime at the office but he doesn't want to work for his family. Like I said he's ver independent and if going pro doesn't work, he wants to be a coach.

TBF I understand what you're saying. While weight is very important to me, I have also in the past made some kind of compromise especially with my exes. I do thnk he is a healthy person and if we can work out together in the future, I would love to have a partjer who shares my passion. So I will see and I will be careful.
