christine393
So, I was with my guy for awhile. Recently broke up (five weeks ago).. Things ended a little awkward. I basically told him that he needed to change and treat me better or I'd leave. Well, he obviously left.. I'm still quite in love with him and miss him but I held strong and didn't text... Today, I got a text that said "Hi.. How are you?" I responded that I was fine.. What does this mean?! Blah! I can't take much more heartbreak.. Part of me wants him back, another part.. well, that part wants him back too.
youngster
His text is what us LS'ers call "breadcrumbs" he's just testing the waters with you. **Edit- you probably knew that, I did not see that you've been a member since last August.** How long we're you in NC? Author christine393
NC? We were together for awhile.. He was my first boyfriend. What are relationships breadcrumbs?
youngster
No Contact. You said he texted you. How long was the duration of you two not speaking/seeing/texting one another when he sent you that text? Breadcrumbs are little things our ex might do to keep the relationship from starving to death, yet not enough to feed a healthy relationship. Think of it as stringing you along. Author christine393
We hadn't seen each other or talked in about 6-7 weeks.. I held strong.. I just feel as if he opened old wounds, etc. Just a random text in two months?
youngster
First of all KUDOS to staying NC for that long! Yes this was a random and pathetic attempt to engage in some sort of back and forth with you. You said there were things you didn't like and gave him the ultimatum, right? Well you know where that story goes. His incompatibility with you plus his half assed hello, tell me he isn't worth your time. Stick to NC and keep moving on. Contact like this wether it's initiated or accidentally bumping into them in public is no doubtedly going to mess with our heads for a bit, but you'll see if you don't feed into him, that you'll get back up dust yourself off and keep on moving forward. You say this was your first boyfriend, right? I remember after ending my first real relationship, I thought I missed my ex constantly. More often than not, I just missed being in a relationship in general.
Author christine393
Thanks! It's honestly been very hard. But I have quite a bit of pride and just couldn't bring myself to beg for him back. As much as I have wanted too! I love how you said "if you don't feed into him, that you'll get back up,must yourself off and keep on moving forward." How long will that part take? I do miss being in a relationship. I think it's also that it was completely out of the blue how it happened. One day we were talking about staying together forever, etc, and the next we were broken up. It's hard to let go. youngster
Lol you even caught the unedited version of my message typing on an iPad has its challenges I don't believe there's a set time frame to healing. The best thing you can do is take it day by day, not jump into any rebound relationships and spend... Better yet, INVEST this time in yourself. Relationships can be funny like that. They can end just as abruptly as they begun. Who knows why??
