daletom
I dunno how folks around here feel about cross-posting, but I just started a thread called {"Forget about having a boyfriend" (Danish Inst for Nat Health) Your comments?} in another forum that you may want look at: http://www.loveshack.org/forums/t40431/ I'd appreciate your comments. DerangedAngel
I think it was deleted because of the double-posting, daletom. You might want to respost the original link. Or, well, I can. http://cnn.netscape.cnn.com/news/package.jsp?name=fte/ditchtheboyfriend/ditchtheboyfriend&floc=wn-ns boyfriends tend to make teen girls feel sad, dispirited, and nervous, as well as create sleeping and eating problems I didn't think this fit in just that age range. Seems to be never ending. I guess I "partially agree". It depends entirely on the two teens involved, obviously. Some people become more self confident and outgoing as a result of (high school) relationships. I did. Some of my friends did. So, I think it's silly for them to say that 15-16 year old girls should just forget about dating. -Deranged
moimeme
There's no need to cross post. Most people use the 'what's new' button which gives them all new posts from all forums. DA, your link didn't work.
Author daletom
Yeah, Ms. CrazyCherubim, that's the correct link. The quote, from the Danish Institute for National Health, said: Teen girls who are 15 and 16 years old should do themselves a big favor: Forget about having a steady boyfriend. . . . boyfriends tend to make teen girls feel sad, dispirited, and nervous, as well as create sleeping and eating problems . . . Girls who have boyfriends also tend to be displeased with their weight and tend not to be involved in as many physical activities, such as team sports. I was surprised to see that. It's sometimes hard for people to figure out the whole boy/girl thing, but I'm not sure it gets any easier if they wait until they're 18 . . . or 20 . . . or 35 (rather than 16) to start learning. I'd like to know if others (whether 16 yrs old, or parents of 16 year olds) agree or disagree? Does anybody have a link to more information about this study? On the sidebar of that same page is a little poll where 26% say they met the person they married while in High School, which is the age we're talking about here. Maybe they "met" but didn't "date" or form romantic attachments? Only 13% said they met in college - I would have guessed these proportions the other way around. (I'm down in the 13% who met thru friends.)

In my mind, the topic sort of fit in several places - rather than repeat the post entirely in several forums, I posted a link instead. (I promise not to do it again.) Unfortunately, the more complete post is the one they chose to delete. The web article I'd like to hear comments about is here: http://cnn.netscape.cnn.com/news/package.jsp?name=fte/ditchtheboyfriend/ditchtheboyfriend&floc=wn-ns
moimeme
Thanks, daletom. Maybe it's just my IE being feisty but I can't get it. You've given us the gist, however. It's not an issue for me anyway

DerangedAngel
O! That reminds me of a quote I saw a while back. "My computer goes down on me more often than my girlfriend." Ok, now I'm really off-topic. Sorry. -Deranged
SilverAngelus
Well that website is a crock of bull. It even contradicts itself!!! I am 16 myself and going into my sophmore year and yes I have had some bad relationships but... I have never gotten worried asbout my wieght, looks, ect or lost sleep/appitite ect. Like someone said, its all about the teens involved. I find most of my relationships to be very good for me and even when they dont turn out well is till get vaulable learning experiance that I can use later and life. and who cares about team sportsl.... I am im ROTC, Soccer, and was in Vaulting. But no...I am a teen girl w/ a boyfriend so I must hate sports. And maybe teen girls hate sports...bc they dont like sports???? lol. That site is such a crock. Daletom where do u find this stuff? lol jp. Angel
