If you had to choose between the 2, would you choose to date a person with Genital Herpes, or who smoked legal synthetic marijuana? TYIA.

Why would I have to choose? Does someone have a gun to my head?

If so, I'm going with the weed.

Or you could answer the question: which is more liveable for you? There's a method to my madness

The weed is more livable, obviously

I did answer the question. I'd rather be with someone who used marijuana than someone who had herpes. If I had to choose.

Who the f*ck would choose the herpes?? :lmao:

Here's what the developer of JWH-018, the active ingredient in many of the 'legal' products , John Huffman, said about 'synthetic MJ'.

"Anybody that tries it is like playing Russian roulette," Huffman said. "You don't know what you're getting. It's just insane. Anybody who uses it is out of their tree." Huffman said he heard about a Russian girl who killed herself by jumping out a 10-story window after smoking K2."

OTOH, medical science is constantly improving on the front of preventing and treating HSV and it is a purely physical disease; known, quantified and testable, with a lot of data available to educate from and with.

I thought I'd provide an alternative viewpoint to the 'obvious'. Certainly, for those interested in casual sex without any consideration of the person as LTR material, the MJ user would be a far better choice if one had to 'choose' IMO.

But even with an LTR, dope can be used in moderation. It doesn't have to be a big deal (although, of course, it can be).

Not much choice with the herpes virus, though.. Must be crap having to tell people you've got herpes.

This is stupid. You cannot equate a soft drug that has no long term negative affects to your body to an STD thats incurable and causes sores.

Neither.

Come at me, bro.

I want to date somebody who shoots heroin at least 10 X per day using dirty needles, and who is HIV positive.

Why must we choose?

This is the best argument for the herpes so far.

I would. I've dated someone with it (and no, I still don't have it), but would not date a pot head.

I guess in my mind, an STD doesn't make a person, but their choices and lifestyle (weed) does.

Weed is no different than alcohol. Besides, the person could be using marijuana for medicinal purposes.

Herpes is gross. This shouldn't even be close.

And Std is sometimes reflective of their choices though.

Also, Pot is not contagious (lol) and you can stop using a drug if you want to.

An Std like herpes is contagious and with you for life.

Screw that ish. Im a perfectly healthy male and wanna stay that way. Id rather not shrink my dating pool even more than it is lol

I would rather be with a pot head than an alcoholic.

*shrug* I have no regrets. Given the sheer number of people who have HSV (and the ginormous number of those who don't even know they have it and thus won't tell you), and that HSV antibodies can take MONTHS to show up in an STD test and you can actually have HSV and have the test come back negative because of how antibodies are measured, counted and reported (aka there are many false negatives), and that condoms don't protect against it, y'all are taking a huge risk of contracting it every time you have sex. Every single time.

I'll take that risk in having sex with someone I know and really care about and who is responsible and amazing and whom I have amazing chemistry with and can really see a future with over a pot head any day of the week.

Sometimes. More often than not though, it's not. One of my good friends got it from the very first guy she had sex with at 22 and who she was in a long term relationship, and another guy I know (the one I dated) got it from his second sexual partner who he was with for years, and he first contracted it from a blow job - not intercourse.

Good thing I don't have sex then. Still though, pot is no different than alcohol use. I'm sure you've dated someone who drank.

Im so sick of this argument.

First off, obviously when people say herpes they mean genital herpes (HSV 2)

Secondly, many people have cold sores which is HSV 1. So no, most people do not have genital herpes, which is what we are talking about here.

So people need to give this argument a rest. Plenty of healthy folks out there want nothing to do with someone who has an incurable std that manifests itself with genital sores. It is what it is.

I'm with Star Gazer.

Regular mj use would be a dealbreaker for me.

HSV+ would not be a dealbreaker.

The stigma surrounding HSV is worse than the actual disease.

Get tested and have people you sleep with get tested before hand. Problem solved.

What happened to them sucks, but it could have been prevented.
