Franco7 Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Am from Ireland (30) I met a girl (20) online from Pakistan in september of last year we really hit it off talking everyday by email and via skype but I was not fully aware of the culture there prior, in otherwards because of women's rights there it wasn't going to be as straight forward particularly for a man from a western culture. Anyway as the months passed by we felt we had to take it to the next level of considering meeting in real if it was to go any further with the relationship so one day just out of the blue in early january she asked me did I want to meet her in Dubai in Feb much to my surprise considering the very short notice it was but apparently this would be her only chance of meeting me as opposed to me going to Pakistan to meet her which was a non runner on her end, she would go there with her mother and brothers. I kind of hemmed and hawed about it but in the end took her up on the offer and said I would the fact she was gonna go to all the effort in meeting me and the situation she was in with her culture. So I will fast forward to last weekend when I finnally booked it and I was on skype with her while doing soo even showing the reservation on webcam just to prove, she had flight and hotel booked also all she needed was a visa, and even if the brother couldn't get his visa (which was a big question mark) she still said her and her mom would be going still but her father had something to say about that. So this week she had being ill with the flu which is understanable but she would always email no matter what if their was a problem but now as of wednesday I haven't heard from her at all which is very unusuall am really thinking of the worse that her father found out why she was going to Dubai with her mom, am really worried sick I've no other means of contact and am due to fly out next saturday and I can't cancel the holiday as I'll lose 100% value of the booking so I'd be better off going than taking that hit plus I've time booked off work, its hard for me even to sit here and explain this expecting answers other than just to feel sorry for me. I really dunno what to do?
TMichaels Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 I suggest you study up on what there's to do and see in Dubai and have yourself a nice holiday in the event yer wan did a runner. Silk purse out of sow's ear and all that... Might was well. Money's already been spent and time off from work already taken. Then, remove her from all your contact lists. You deserve and can do better than someone who delights in playing you like a fiddle. Best, TMichaels
Author Franco7 Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 Hello Michael At this stage your right but I think it was more a case that she is just ring fenced by her family hence different culture oppossed to her doing a runner and I may just sit back and take it now whats done is done.
