ScienceGal Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 This creeps me out. I wonder how many people bought one... I saw the guy on the tv show American Inventor a few years back..
Buttercup84 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I think that people who are lonely, or need to cuddle, or need to relax can do things that help with the pain and angst. I am allergic to cats and you have to pay a HUGGGE deposit here to have one. There are no dogs allowed here. If my situation were different, I would buy a cat. Even if I was on allergy medicine all the time, I still could not do it...I would have to pay over 600 dollars to have one cat. But here are some possibilities: -dog -cat -fish: Fish lower the blood pressure and are relaxing to watch. When I was younger, my fish would only last for a few days. I had noooo idea that you could not put fish in water that just came from the tap. There's a lot to taking care of fish that I did not know about until I started reading up on them. -bunny. I don't like it when people buy bunnies during Easter (without doing research) because they think they are so cute. People don't like it when they find out how much care they need. I'm actually against bunnies and rabbits being sold in pet stores, but I would love to open my home to a bunny or rabbit living in a shelter that needs to be rescued. An interesting sideline- I foud out bunnies/rabbits who were rasied in doors should never be taken care of out doors. It could be very harmful to them, even if they are just in a backyard. I read that bunnies could be trained to use litter boxes. I would just want to buy wee-wee pads for mine, because I read that bunnies/rabbits also like to lay down in their litter-box. After I bunny/rabbit proof the house, I don't see myself as keeping that lovely creature in a cage. I'd let it hop around the house always. I think I would love to have one. Rag dolls and teddy bears and other stuffed animals: are very nice and helpful to cuddle with at nighttime. I only hug my ragdoll when I go to sleep, but if I held her during the afternoon on Friday, I would have felt better. My sister thinks I'm ridiculous for sleeping with my rag dog, but it helps so much. You can also hold yourself too. It has been a long time since I have done that. White noise from an air purifier or other instruments can help people relax Vanilla in the home, such as vanilla air freshners...smelling vanilla helps people relax Cool jazz- very relaxing Trouble is, as I said, when I relax too much, I think. But if I concentrate on the music and just let the notes of cool jazz take me away, I'm sure that will be much better. Aww bunnies ! if I had the money and place for it I would have many animals . It is good that you think before you buy one , it makes me so sad seeing so many animals in shelters. My ex gave me a kitten when we were first going out , and now she is two and living with me . If I didn't have her I might have done something stupid when he ended it , I didn't quit my job when I was so depressed because I had to look after her . Just holding her gives me a great feeling of happiness and she provides me with laughs . Pets are great for therapy . Sleeping with a toy isn't weird at all , I still can't put my soft toys away and I am almost 28 haha . I have a body pillow which I hold and it feels nice . But like you , when I relax I think too much .

Ok i'll just stay inside this week and next monday it will start... then comes monday and I say the same thing... ronely...
Exit Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Hello everyone I'm on the same lonely boat. Just need to get my ass off the couch and start changing myself. I have to finally realize i'm the only one who can do it. I got a bad habit of saying to myself. Ok i'll just stay inside this week and next monday it will start... then comes monday and I say the same thing... ronely... Yeah... I'm all too familiar with the "start on Monday" trap. First step to take is to try to shift away from that, and when you decide you want to start doing something, do it today. Easier said than done...
ScienceGal Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Yeah... I'm all too familiar with the "start on Monday" trap. First step to take is to try to shift away from that, and when you decide you want to start doing something, do it today. Easier said than done... I make myself do things. Just now, I was going to go home and read, but I decided to go to a local coffee shop instead... at least I am not alone, which makes it a little less depressing. Maybe I'll see someone I know. Maybe I'll meet someone new, maybe I'll just quietly sit on this comfy couch for an hour and happily read my book
Cocollective Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Definitely agree with you guys; the double edged sword of relaxation- I've been there. I think I read somewhere that when we relax, our thoughts naturally drift to what we care about the most and for many people; it is relationships (well at least for me!). Yeah forgot about pets! Yeah I had goldfish when I was younger and they died every time I cleaned the bowl. Poor fish But the thing is you can't keep them in a rock pool outdoors sometimes because some birds divebomb them. Too hard basket for me. Bunnies are totally cute! I see some feral ones in the garden now and then and I just want to watch them all day, with their pink noses sniffing everywhere and their long ears flopping around lol.
