Hey everyone,

I work in tv/film production. In a rare moment of thought, I came up with the top 3 shows on television that influence a woman to break up with their significant other.

1. SEX AND THE CITY- I don't even know where to start with this one...great show..well written...the woman's modern day bible to total sexual equality perhaps? I can guarantee you that this show has caused many women who were in good marriages to break off their relationships in search of prince charming, Mr. big, Mr. Small or whomever else. More than often the result is a marriage ending in divorce...the now ex husband emotionally wounded and the now single woman regretful of her actions and decisions.

2. MARRIED WITH CHILDREN- This show was a staple of late night television during the 80's. We all watched Bud go from a high pitched pip squeak to a full grown 5' 3" man. We also watched two other characters...those being the always horny Peg Bundy and that carpet muncher in a closet named Marcy Darcy. Both Peg and Marcy influenced women across America to embrace infidelity with the postman and encouraged a sudden declaration of lesbianism fourty years into life leading the now lesbian's ex husband to believe that he drove a woman to lesbianism....this is evil...pure EVIL!

3. MELROSE PLACE- We can thank production guru Aaron Spelling for another show involving the most beautiful people on earth somehow living in a two story condo complex together. The hook ups and break ups ran through this complex quicker than Howard Hughes would jog through a leper camp. Before the start of the second season, there were 24 break ups. The women of Melrose Place were ridden more than a tijuana hooker and exchanged more frequently than $5 chips at the Palms. With a majority of the viewers of Melrose Place being women,

this show encouraged women to be...how can i put this without offending anyone.....loose?? "I love Billy....and Michael...and Jake...and blah and blah and blah.

FOR THE RECORD:

I love Sex and the City, I think its hilarious, and if you took a second to watch it without your blinders on, you would see the women on there arent running around breaking up with men for frivolous reasons...

you said : "More than often the result is a marriage ending in divorce...the now ex husband emotionally wounded and the now single woman regretful of her actions and decisions"

If the marriage ended in divorce, dont you think that was for a reason?? And what about the emotionally wounded woman, who is now single, because yet again things didnt work out with this man, who she was supposed to spend the rest of her life with happily??

I really think you're looking at things one-sided. Try watching the show with an open mind next time.

WomenAreNuts,

I can't help agreeing with you about the bad influence of tv shows on women and their relationships, since as you must very well know women cannot separate movies and reality.

As a matter of fact, the Buffy series influenced me so much I ended up chasing after my bf with a wooden stake.

Also, after watching the Return of the King I tried to feed him to my iguana.

I was there telling the lizard in a very nazgul-like voice "Feast on his flesh", but the uncooperative iguana just kept dozing. So i'm still with my bf.

Oh, please.

Only shows that actually hold the potential of influencing some women to break up with their significant others are playboy shows, penthouse shows, and stuff of that sort.
