I have been dating a guy who is 45 with no kids for 8 months now. I am 43 and have 3 kids in elementary and middle school. My boyfriend wants to move back to his hometown and take us with him. I can not move as my childrens Father lives close by and has our kids one week a month. I also think it is good for my kids to have a relationship with their Father.

I feel that if my boyfriend really loved me he would stay in this area. He says he loves me and is very upset as it was hard for him to make this decision. However, he wants to move back home to be close to his family....siblings, aging parents and 17 nieces and nephews! He says he thought we would be willing to move. He has flown my kids and I to his hometown over Thanksgiving where we spent a lot of time with his family.

He has been in this area for 6 years now and has always planned to go back. He has most of his stuff still back in his hometown as he only rents a place here. Oh, he moved here for a job where he can make a lot more money than his hometown. He has a horse, 3 rental homes, boat, family all back at home.

Not sure what to do. He is so upset/depressed about this but I see him as the one with the flexibility. I can't move because of my kids and I myself am from this area. More importantly, I live where the jobs are! How can he move if he really loves me and the kids as he says he does?

Because he values his family.

When your kids are grown - you can then move there- then THAT decision won't affect your kids so much...
