What % of women get their men something for Valentines Day?

OR

Is it more normal for a girl to get her boyfriend something or more normal for only the man to get his girlfriend something?

Thanks!

I think it's a two way street. I both gave and received gifts Valentine's Day.

I baked my boyfriend cupcakes (2 varieties!) and made him a nice dinner.

He had suggested making dinner reservations but I requested that he let me cook for him instead. Considering that it's him who spoils me every other day of the year, I wanted to take time to appreciate him on the holiday.

He still got me a present and took myself and my parents out for a really nice dinner last weekend...sneaky sneaky. ;)

Yeah, I've done dinner and lingere and baked goods. Never bought a man flowers. Do men want flowers or something?

Happy to report that, if counting Vday gifts by cutting off fingers, I'd have most of my digits left. I like fingers. :)

I got hubby a Valentine (card & present) and, in fact, I took him to dinner (though we did it over the weekend, as I had to go to school last night). He got me nada, but that was the plan.

I don't really like V Day, so it's "his" holiday. Except for Christmas, we each ceded holidays to each other --- for example, I get anniversaries (he does something for me) and he gets V Days (I do something for him). I get New Year's, as in I get to pick what we do, because it's my favorite, and he gets Thanksgiving and picks the plan, because he loves it and I don't care.

We don't really have any holidays that weren't easy to distribute, so it worked out well. Hubby is weird, though. He insisted on planning an Arbor Day celebration. ;)

I got a present. :) And cookery was performed, although that was a joint effort.

This is a cute idea! :)

And cookery was performed...

Lol, I like the way you phrased that.

I've never given a BF a Vday gift. I don't really care about Vday, though it is nice to spend it with the other person.

I brought my BF cheesecake last night and we had some beers and hung out. We'd agreed no gifts. It was great :bunny:

Well, cooking is art!

V Day isn't big where I live. Personally I don't care about it. My partner cares a bit more than me, but not much. I got him a red rose. We thought about going out for dinner, but the weather was pretty bad so we stayed in and relaxed and watched a movie.

No. The secret Valentine's Day arrangement is that they get head if they give the right gift. But nobody says that--they just wink at you when you pay for your gift and say good luck. :p

I got my man some vday stuff:

- baked and decorated heart shaped cookies for him

- Got him the batman series Volume 3 (yes, he's 33, but still watches that stuff) :p

- Got him a nice card

- got him some chocolatey treats

- Did an extra somethin somethin for him and he seemed to appreciate it - and no, its not what you're thinking (he gets THAT on the regular) ;)

I'm not too big on valentine's day, but if he's going to go the distance and show me that he cares, he's definitely gonna get that same treatment back.

I didn't know what to get my bf. It's our first v-day together. I got him card, a picture frame of us, massage oil ;), and home made chocolate covered strawberries.

Maybe chocolate bacon would be more of the "mans" kind of V-Day treat. I heard it was very popular. :)

I think getting flowers sent to my work is romantic.

My mom got me Girlscout cookies. Does that count?

A lot of people don't seem to like Vday ?

I agree it's kind of cheesy, but still it would be fun if you have a SO :)

I think there are pockets of different opinions and subcultures about this. I know in my own experience, the previous generations celebrated Valentines as a day when men were expected to show their women a little romance, perhaps because they weren't too good at showing it the rest of the year. It's easy for younger women who have grown up in that dynamic to see Valentine's as more of a female-centered holiday, particularly since that's played up in the media, and it doesn't necessarily mean she is inherently greedy as some of the more angry young male posters have claimed a few times over the years.

However, a high percentage of the established couples I know experience Valentine's as more of a 2-way street. Either that, or they don't celebrate it at all. Or, third option, the woman gets romanced on Feb. 14 while the man gets his in March on Steak and Blowjob Day.

Why did you put a wink after the massage oil?

Nope...not a jewelry girl. He got me a bunch of cute panties and PJ's.
