After much inner searchings, a series of flirtations over years and a renewal of feelings toward a lost love - one who is keeping me at arms length for proprieties sake mind you, it seems that I'm at a point to move on but don't know exactly how. Years into this marriage, there is little communication and even less joy. I want us both to be happy and move forward toward co-parenting but there are so many unanswered questions. I feel that I owe my spouse a reason why I feel this way but no distinct response exists. To avoid repeating mistakes in a future relationship we should have closure of some kind but the waiting for discovery of this is maddening. Any thoughts?

Do you not love your spouse anymore? Why not?

Get into marriage counseling .. discover what is missing in the marriage and get some communication going.

If I were you your position I would explain to my spouse how I was feeling and tell them that I think we need help because what we were doing wasn't working. I would suggest separate and maybe couples counselling and go from there.

If you have made up your mind though and don't want to give the a chance to make it better I would explain how I was feeling and what I wanted the next step to be and go from there. Once a conversation starts it's not always obvious where it will go.
