jobaba Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Being here a short while, I have learned some very funny terms that I have never heard before. It's only after visiting this site (and this site only) that I realize people treat dating like it's a game of baseball, replete with its own vernacular. Funny words I have learned here... -Dealbreaker -Emotional Crumbs -Attention Whore That's all I can think of for now. I especially love emotional crumbs. Powerful imagery.
carhill Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 My short list of 'ism's' - Emotional vampire - Hoover - Cheer's effect - Orbiter - Tampon - People-picker
runner Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 F.A.G. -- forever alone guy as in: "dude, quit being such a f.a.g."
Pyro Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 'who pissed in your cornflakes today?' I don't recall who said it but it was great.
RecordProducer Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I think it's funny that OW call the wife of their MM "BS"! I like the "cake eater" (married man who has his cake and eats it, too) Funny words I have learned here... -Dealbreaker -Emotional Crumbs -Attention Whore That's all I can think of for now. I especially love emotional crumbs. Powerful imagery. You've never heard these terms before???
Star Gazer Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 You've never heard these terms before??? I wondered the same thing...
USMCHokie Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Launch! 10 characters. LAUNCH! Easily my favorite...

Funny words I have learned here... -Dealbreaker -Emotional Crumbs -Attention Whore That's all I can think of for now. I especially love emotional crumbs. Powerful imagery. I had heard "dealbreaker" and "attention whore" long before I came to LS. It's pretty common and not peculiar to LoveShack. "Emotional crumbs" isn't commonly heard where I am, but again it's not something I heard just on LS either.
Star Gazer Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Normal Knowledge Hahahahahahahaha! I remember that!!!
Star Gazer Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Souplantation has a completely different meaning on LS, as does strawman.
Eve Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I found seeing the term 'trifling' very amusing. I have only heard this on chat shows previously. Just makes me laugh as trifle is one of my favourite puddings. Ass hat is pretty amusing too. What is that?! Take care, Eve x
Dust Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I enjoy the involuntary celibate community of men who post here and never really thought about it or knew the term. I blame them though and think its all in their heads. Seriously if people missing faces and arms and legs... and privates can some how get lucky so can they... Also I invented the term don't be a Somedude of course inspired by one of our most famous posters creater of such great threads as "How do I not be single?" and "do women really get rejected?" just to name a few from recent times...
Els Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 So what does souplantation mean? o.O The most amusing one for me was GIGS. It took a helluva long time before I figured that one out - I always assumed it was something a band does
Els Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Normal Knowledge ROFL who put that one up on UD????? :lmao::lmao:
oldguy Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 (edited) Funny words I have learned here... -Dealbreaker -Emotional Crumbs -Attention Whore I've heard all these outside of LS. My short list of 'ism's' - Emotional vampire - Hoover - People-picker These too. - Cheer's effect - Orbiter - Tampon Not these Ass hat is pretty amusing too. What is that?! I haven't heard that one, I like it I can only imagine its someone with their head up theirs or possibly someone else's =Star Gazer; Normal Knowledge Hahahahahahahaha! I remember that!!! Me too, I think that poor poster got slammed pretty mercilessly. Edited February 2, 2012 by oldguy
Author jobaba Posted February 2, 2012 Author Posted February 2, 2012 I had heard "dealbreaker" and "attention whore" long before I came to LS. It's pretty common and not peculiar to LoveShack. "Emotional crumbs" isn't commonly heard where I am, but again it's not something I heard just on LS either. Not really. I haven't really 'dated' in that sense. I've been on dates, but usually go for people I know from social circles, not strangers from bars and online dating. LS exposes you to people you are not used to dealing with in RL. I hate dealing with drama in my life.
Art_Critic Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Many many moons ago Merin coined the word AssClown here on LS.... Love it...
LexiB Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 (edited) "Emotional Tampon" Edited February 2, 2012 by LexiB
RecordProducer Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 "Monkey business" - it was promulgated by LS men and referred to women who don't leave their husbands until they have found new men - just like monkeys don't let go of a branch until they have grabbed the next one.
g450 Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 OK I give up. What is GIGS? Been on here for a few years and just started seeing that one.
Afishwithabike Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 OK I give up. What is GIGS? Been on here for a few years and just started seeing that one. "Grass Is Greener" Syndrome where things seem better with someone new..
