Some type of scam, but what exactly?

This has been on my mind too. So many cute chicks on dating sites, facebook, myspace, twitter, and other social networking sites have terrible spelling/grammar. Example: "hey There, my name is Cindy..jus a funloving women who likes doing outdoorsy things wit my friends and family. im lookin to meet taht special man that will love me for me an only me."

The spelling/grammar is so bad it does seem like a scam, doesn't it?

Nah, they're just beautiful babes with bad spelling and syntax. It happens.

I get A LOT of women like this in their 30's favoriting me.

Their profiles don't have poor grammar but they sound like this & the rest of the profile is blank.

also, when they favorite me & I click on their profile, it doesn't exist.

But an hr later their back with a new name.

IDK, I usually just ignore them because honestly there isn't enough of the profile to even formulate an email.

I might as well just tell them I enjoyed their profile & just make stuff up just to see if I get response. LOL!

Being gorgeous doesn't ipso facto make you a winner of spelling bees.

C'mon.

Not all profiles in OLD are real...

Some are escorts or hookers looking for clients.. yes.. that is how they do it today.

Some are women in other countries looking for marriage potential for their green cards and a free ride..the profiles normally don't mention they are in another country.. hence bad grammar.

Some are actually MEN or double women's profiles..I had a fake women's profile when I used OLD.. I had the profile so I could check out the competition or Men without them thinking I was gay.

Some are email spamming collectors.. just looking for email addresses to sell.

Some are fake for many more reasons....

and lastly..

Some are REAL.. actually from what I had seen years ago when I was single was about 60-70-% of the profiles were real.. the rest were fake.

The trick is to figure out which of those real ones are still active and worth contacting...

The ones that aren't there when you click them were reported for being fake and canceled...

While we are on the topic, had a woman wink at me last night.

Her profile had one or two typo's such as she is vet but left the "v" off.

She also has an odd side job that is other side of the spectrum.

sent her an email & got one back very quickly with her name, personal email & cell if I wanted to text.

This has def. knocked me for a loop because of the snails pace OLD has been going for me.

Most of them are fake. I'm actually surprised at how long fake profiles stay online! I've reported a lot of them and nothing happens.

The spammers can easily collect phone numbers, email addresses... since a lot guys will just give it away on the first message!

Make sure you don't wind up paying by the minute!

The thought had occurred to me.

I'm going the e-mail route here.

Obviously (to me) she is using her smartphone to respond so i'll cut her a little slack on the broken English she is responding with. But I'm not a big txter. big fingers & little buttons on a cell make for a lot of frustration on my part.

Some profiles are fake, but also. . . plenty of pretty girls can't spell or write worth a damn, just like plenty of the general population. It's sad. I think other factors are more telling in terms of fake profiles. Also, for me, it's easy to spot the difference between ESOL/broken English and bad grammar; I would be more skeptical of the broken English if the pic and details didn't reflect foreign heritage or parentage or something. Unless you were in a city with a high non-English population, like Miami or NYC or whatnot.
