For all you know he is some 70 year-old goat who gets off on teasing women online. You are falling for your own fantasy, nothing more. You do need to take a reality check when you are arguing with someone you have never met in your life over what he is doing or isn't doing. It's kind of none of your business. I didn't argue with him. Just told him it would have been nice to let someone with whom you have been flirting for quite a while know that you are seeing someone now. I consider that polite behavior.

The thing is, to protect yourself you must realise the other person 'doesn't exist' until you meet him in person. He could be married, he could be even a 15 year-old. You just don't know. Don't expect ANYTHING from anyone you have never met, the least of all polite behaviour. It's not because you should expect to be poorly treated but because in order to have expectations, you must have a picture of him in your mind. That picture is most likely to be completely inaccurate.

He started writing to me and at the beginning we were actually just having discussions about various topics and then I kind of started liking him. I've met people from the internet and very often I got a small surprise, and not always a good one, so I am aware that you should guard your feelings until you meet. It just happened...

Nothing wrong with them... I'm not familiar with all of the posters, but just based on a spontaneous mental snapshot, they are generally women who put a premium on initial physical attraction.
