ditzchic Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 So I met this guy in a bar over the weekend. He tried to hit on me but I wasn't very responsive. He seems nice and all but he looks JUST like my older brother. I mean it's uncanny how much they look alike. Same hairstyle, body build, they dress alike... everything. Today I got a friend request from him on facebook and he sent me a message saying what a pleasure it was to meet me and he'd like to hang out sometime. I replied back and told him that he's a nice guy and we should get our friends together for a group hang out sometime. I hope he gets the hint that I'm friend-zoning him but I hope he doesn't ask too many questions as to why. That's an awkward conversation to have! lol. Has anyone else ever had something like this happen to them? How did you handle it?
hydorclops Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Just tell him the truth. Then tell him that you've always wanted to do your brother. Hopefully he'd turn you down. Seriously, you don't owe him an explanation.
johan Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I once got involved with a woman who I slowly realized had mannerisms and a lifestyle very similar to my sister. Similar standards in how she dressed and kept herself. I couldn't date her anymore.
xpaperxcutx Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I don't have siblings so I wouldn't know but I adamantly will not date ppl who look like my exes.
Dust Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 My family is pretty good looking. If some one looked exactly like my mother I'd hit that! You're brother must not be good looking lol
FitChick Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Maybe he is your brother. Were you adopted? Did either of your parents cheat? Any family skeletons?
Dust Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 For the full experience first murder some guy that looks like your father Who do you think I want to be the trinity killer?
spiderowl Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I once was flirted with by a guy who looked so much like an ex of mine that I really had to stare at him several times across a room to check he wasn't the same guy! He may even have thought I was eyeing him up, which of course I wasn't. He seemed a nice guy but I did everything possible to tactfully show him I wasn't interested. It seemed rude to say to someone 'you look almost identical to an ex of mine that I never want to see again, which is why I'm being distant with you'. No-one wants to think they look that much like someone else. We all want to think we are individual. Whatever, there is no way I could have dated this guy.
kaylan Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I don't have siblings so I wouldn't know but I adamantly will not date ppl who look like my exes. ^This. I dont have sisters, but wouldnt date someone who looked like a family member or ex. Also, women with the same name as my exes even irks me a bit because it brings up old memories when I hear the name.

How did you handle it? id straight up tell him he looks like your brother and thats why you're friend zoning him! make the rejection alot easier. he might even be amused. but im sure he'll understand.
Imajerk17 Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 There is something to be said about keeping it in the family you know...
veggirl Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 so glad I'm a girl with sisters. I would say "I'm down to hang out as friends, but not really interested in anything else" You don't have to go into specifics.
