irc333 Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 You'll get a kick out of this photo caption in regards to who women back in the olden days were hotter than they are now When did THIS look HOTTER, than THIS?
bean1 Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 I looked like Kiera Knightly (body-wise) until around 20, naturally, and remember how mean some people were - "eww, you look sick" or "broccoli girl", or whatever. There's no need to put people down for their body types. BTW, I would resemble the "after" now (minus big boobs except when nursing) after having a child. So I don't take it as a personal attack but I do remember how hurtful it was when I was younger, I wanted so badly to look "beautiful" and "curvy" despite my natural body. "Skinny" girls are also made to feel bad about how they look. I guess my point is this - you can say what you find is beautiful without insulting those who you do not consider beautiful.
EnigmaticClarity Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Dumb comparisons in that photo. They're all dumb, but it goes over the top when it asks when did Kirsten Dunst become hotter than Marilyn Monroe.
grkBoy Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 The problem is that "curvy" (the classic Marlyn Monroe and Bettie Page body), doesn't really exist much. You'll see one of those "curvy" women for every 100 bonna-fide obese women claiming to be "curvy". The thing I wish is that more women would stop obsessing if they don't look like the skinny models. Lately I've even been touching up photos in Photoshop to show girls how much trickery the media plays. What astounds me is they keep saying "I know" in the sense that they agree with how much Photoshopping is done, but they still keep trying to achieve that body while lamenting on how "ugly" they think they are. Ridiculous.
EnigmaticClarity Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 The problem is that "curvy" (the classic Marlyn Monroe and Bettie Page body), doesn't really exist much. That's the nature of media--we hold women like this in high esteem precisely BECAUSE they don't really exist much. Women shouldn't hold them against themselves for not being in the rarest 1% of body types any more than men should for not being the complete package of gorgeous, muscular, 6' 4", and a nine-inch package, yet men commonly hold these things against themselves, too.
stillafool Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Those are just pics of some starved out dried up movie stars. Most normal women do not look that way.
123321 Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Fat Marilyn (not to be confused with young hot Ms Monroe) was never hot. Playboys Lauren M. Hall is hot. Fat is never hot.
Ross MwcFan Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 All of the women on the top row just make me think 'ewwwww'.
