You know...I keep seeing all these threads filled with people who seem to lack confidence. Whether its about facial looks, career, money, height, weight, hair, style, personality, intelligence, body proportions, education, style, personality, race...etc...There always seems to be a thread concerning one of these topics where posters put themselves down. The recent "average" and "too ugly to date" threads were the last straw for me.

And while we all go through periods where we lack confidence in certain areas, Im a fairly optimistic guy who sees a lot of positives in himself. Ones attitude regarding themself will have a considerable affect on their happiness and dating life. We shouldnt see ourselves as merely average and get down on ourselves. Get your self esteem back by starting in this thread.

In this thread ONLY POSITIVE POSTS are welcome. Say a few things about yourself that you think are awesome. Tell us some of your accomplishments and/or share your ambitious goals with us. Instead of posting pics asking people about your "flaws", maybe post a pic or two that shows a great part of you. Just share anything positive about yourself that you truly believe. Whether its something personality wise, physical, or whatever else.

So yeah...the thread title is cliche....but whatever. Love the skin youre in. Love the life you live. Stay positive and make things happen for yourself. Thats what keeps me happy. Confidence and positivity is attractive. be borderline arrogant if you have to haha.

Ill let a few people go first before I take a turn....lets go

Good idea dude , though this will be hard ..

Goals :

I have many , but here are a few - One day I would like to own my own Kindergarten , I am currently working in one and see how many things could be done better . The first years of a kids life are so important and I believe I could make a difference to their lives by providing excellent education and a fun loving place .

Goals this year

After a horrible break up that really destroyed any self esteem that I had left , I want to claim my life back . I am living at home again after living with my boyfriend for two years . Going to pay off my credit card , save up enough money so I can move out to a nice little apartment and decorate it the way I want .

I want to take this year to just look after myself and not date , if the right man comes along it will just happen . I want to be happy being single and do the things I want .

Things I like about myself :

I have been told by people that I have nice eyes , and guys have said they like my butt :p gotta work on that more since I have been eating like a pig lately .

I find it easy to talk to people , am able to go to the cinema or to dinner alone , if I don't have any friends who have time . I actually enjoy being alone sometimes .

I like to educate myself and when I do not know the answer to somethign I research it , I hate not knowing what something means .

I can have fun without getting drunk , I am the kind of person who is the first to get up on the dancefloor , friends can rely on me to have fun with and make them laugh .

Despite being a bitch who can't stand people most of the time , when it really matters I am there for people and very helpful .

If you are my friend , I would do a lot for you and would meet you at 3 am just to chat if you're feeling down .

As a girlfriend I think I am pretty awesome , I am pretty sexual , I am not needy , I like making lunch for my partner to take with him to work , I would stick with him through hard times etc . But of course I know where I need to improve .

Meh , that is all :)

Such a good idea!

Goals- graduate in May of 2013 with my bachelors in chemistry. Then, head to vet school so I can either work for a non-profit rescue or help animal hoarders.

Immediate goals- A in organic II!

Physically, I'm very happy with my body. I'm small, but not too small. I have a pretty face and nice hair and teeth

Mentally, I have a good head on my shoulders. I'm very open minded, yet grounded. I've been told I have a good sense of humor, too.

I'm very good at thinking on my feet, that ability got me out of trouble many many times including some hair raising moments such as dealing with lions that came into camp when I was running a bush camp in the African wilderness.

I'm good company, make the effort to be interesting and funny, I'm assertive and reasonable looking enough to catch male attention a lot of the time, I know I'm different from most women, get told often enough. I'm also social and outgoing, don't have trouble talking to strangers at events and parties because I got used to being surrounded by new faces when I traveled lots. In fact I enjoy pushing the boundaries of my comfort zone. This is why I sail and surf, I'm sort of sh***ing myself half the time :)

My goals are work and hobbies related, mainly to get more money together because my pass times are expensive. Want to buy a motorbike too.

It would be lovely to find someone who shares the same passions long term, I seem to be meeting potential candidates more and more so that's hopefully around the corner :) Dated around a fair bit, more often than not the guys were gorgeous but I'm ready to commit to one for as long as.

I think Ill adopt buttercups model for my own response.

Goals:

I want become a successful bassist in an alternative rock band. Then I want to pay off my moms mortgage and take care of her since shes done a great job of taking care of me all my life.

Also, when Im ready I want to find a nice girl to have a relationship with so I can grow more in that part of my life and figure out where I want to end up in terms of love. Im still kind of young and confused and want to get this all sorted out.

Goal this year:

I want to have my new band up and playing shows my late spring/early summer. I also want to have a decent-ish job that pays well, and possibly start taking Masters classes depending on my work and band schedule.

If I have the time I also want to join a weekend soccer league and score a few goals in the style of Kaka or Cristiano Ronaldo.

And hopefully I can find a fun girl to spend some time with this year. Nothing super serious, but itd be cool to meet a fun chick whod be my party pal and someone I can focus some attention on.

Things I like about myself :

I have always loved my dreads since I started them. I loved them when they were down to my shoulders and part of me regrets cutting them short a few months back. I also like that Im in good shape because when you feel good you look good. And I like that I care about dressing because when you look good you feel good.

I like that Im into all kinds of sports and appreciate their various skill levels. I just like anything that requires being active.

I like that I am very out going and open, which means I always try and get shy people to come out of their shell. It works a lot of the time. I like making everyone be friends with one another. Im like a delegate among cliques.

I also like that I make a pretty awesome guy for a girl to have around. At least I think so =P. Im emotionally attentive, sexually generous, very empathetic, and overall optimistic. I can make a gal feel special and am super loyal. I can also be a party animal as well. I love to dance. Hollllaaaa lolz

OK, I'll bite.

Goals: I'd like to chain my business. Leave a waitress a $1000 tip. Develop a couple of more comprehensive programs as a result of my current research. Give my employees a raise. Start a family.

Goals this Year: Get better organized. Get a haircut. Learn to cook.

Things I like about myself: I like the way I look. I'm not the most beautiful girl in the world, but I feel like I look well enough to please myself. I'm very smart. I'm nice. I try to do the right thing. I'm excellent at what I do for a living. I'm good with money. I'm tidy. I tolerant and generous.

GOALS:

Goals are just to keep on top of everything and maximize time as usual. Work on being less judgemental.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Two degrees from good schools and a semi-professional level guitarist. Semi-successful career as a consultant where I climbed up to make good $ with an office with a view of downtown Manhattan, but I'm in the midst of a career change.

LIKES:

I usually think I'm a pretty awesome person. I'm a non shallow and friendly and generous dude and I'm not nearly as judgemental in real life as I am on this forum. I like to drink and am pretty funny I've been told. Like you Kaylan, I think I'm the ultimate boyfriend. I'll spend hours planning something that will be fun for me and my girl to do. I'm romantic and I'll always support her and never put her down.

Sometimes I look in the mirror and think I'm a pretty good looking guy.

I'd say society's view is different, but anyway, this is supposed to be a positive thread. :p

GOALS:

Have a successful music career, set up a media company (TV, Films, Studios, Multimedia, New Media etc), Build a huge business network and create socioeconomic and political infrastructure designed to supplement the working class, and also in ethnic countries. Also to have a family at some point, take advantage of the magnificent physique my father has passed on to me and which I have wasted so far, and inspire a generation. And I want to share all this with a wonderful woman who is beautiful inside and out

GOALS THIS YEAR:

Simply to start. Record my 100000 albums that I supposed to have recorded. Network more, meet more women. Date and have fun. Write down all my ideas instead of procrastinating. Start learning a martial art and getting fitter. Help my brothers and friends become successful.

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT MYSELF:

I have all the raw ingredients to be a highly successful and masterful man. I am able to offset my youthful naivety with unbiased judgement and ever growing intelligence. I'm adaptable by nature, yet am remarkably solid and cool when I need to be (thankfully). I am blessed with many talents that I am lucky to have and build on. I believe that I am a caring and honest person, and I always try to help people, sometimes at my own expense, but generally I am not too bothered. I have a huge amount of emotional control (not quite masterful yet ), but I always keep my calm. I am able to learn new skills very quickly, and my love for people never wanes.

I can also be spontaneous and know how to have fun, despite when people say I am cold, reserved and conservative, I am often the opposite and people are surprised .

You're a musician with dreads who plays soccer and loves his mother.

And we aren't married because...?

Goals:

I'd like to travel more, revisit Japan and Europe. I'd eventually like to own a home, and reach black sash, but that's about 10+ years into the future. I want to publish a few novels, and throw a great dinner party.

Goals this Year:

Test (and hopefully pass) for Green sash. I'm currently undertaking a brand new food-and-fitness regiment I uncovered at NerdFitness.com. I'm doing a modified Paleo/Primal (I love my dairy, don't judge me) and doing full-body weight-lifting routines. If I could just drop about 5-10 pounds and get my body 'tightened' up a little bit to look decent in a bikini, I'd be ecstatic. So far it's been going pretty well.

Things I like about myself:

I wouldn't say I'm the smartest person around, but my biggest positive is my curiosity. If I don't know something, I want to find it out. I am always seeking and acquiring new knowledge. I want to know everything about everything, and everything about everyone.

I think for the most part I'm a very kind and empathetic person. I refuse to manipulate people, and I try to relate to experiences different than mine.

Good stuff. Im especially liking the body weight exercise routine. I currently do alot of calisthenics in my workouts and love body weight training. What you trying to get a sash in? And I have no idea what a Paleo/Primal diet is =P

It's called Hwa Rang Do. You start off in Tae Soo Do and work your way through belts. Once you're done with belts, you graduate into Hwa Rang Do, and start all over with sashes. I've been doing it off and on for about 6 years but have been on a hiatus for 3 years. In the last month I finally finagled my work schedule so I could start going again. With hard work I think I can get the next rank within a year.

Paleo/Primal is more a philosophy than a diet... "eating like a caveman" is where the name came from. So no grains (wheat, oats, rice), no sugar, no processed foods. Lots and lots of nuts, meats (fish, beef, chicken, pork, rabbit, whatever the heck ya want) with fruits and herbs thrown in. I'm not following it super strictly (dairy is in the gray area but most people stay away from it) but using it as a guide to eat healthier... Focus every meal around protein, take carbs only from natural sources like fruit, and fat (fat as in foods, not on your body) is not the enemy.

Here's a good break down (http://nerdfitness.com/blog/2010/10/04/the-beginners-guide-to-the-paleo-diet/)

Love the Skin You're In

Make-up free, freckled face,

and messy hair are serene.

Original style and grace

like you've never seen

Confidence is at the base,

of this beauty that's inside

Even her chipped tooth has a place,

and there's nothing to hide...

She's a real girl

with all the flaws

She's a real girl

but she's happy cuz

She looooooooooves the skin she's in

(Love the skin you're in)

She smiles when she sees

you come walking down the street.

Her eyes sparkle light,

beam of joy from her feet.

Her sleepless heart is true,

such a genuine girl

She's a rare breath of fresh air

in this fake and artificial world.

She's a real girl

with all her flaws

She's a real girl

but she's happy cuz

She loooooooooves the skin she's in

Beauuuuuuuty comes within

it all starts with you

just know you're beautiful

and one of a kind too

Pay no mind to those who try to bring you down

cuz contentment's something they've not found

You're a real girl

wiih all the flaws

you're a real girl

and you're happy cuz

you loooooooove the skin you're in

I'm a real girl

with all the flaws

I'm a real girl

and l'm happy cuz

I loooooooooove the skin I'm in

To say that I love my legs is an understatement. I was voted "Most Likely to Star in a Nair Commercial" in high school, and 15 years later, they look just as good as ever. I had a massage last week with a new therapist, and she said, "Yup, you're definitely a runner and skier. There's not an ounce of fat on these things, which I love because I can really work the muscle."

BUT it's not just because they look awesome that I love them. They have helped me run farther than I ever thought possible, and ski steeper pitches than I ever had nerve for. I almost feel like they're my two best friends. I take care of them, they take care of me.

Now, if only they could train my tummy area how to behave... Whops, this is a positive only thread.

My goal is to take my legs out on trail runs more often, and perhaps maybe even (*gasp*) take them on an ultramarathon in 2013. Sadly, I can't make many skiing related goals as there is no effing snow to play on.

Goals - I want to genuinely believe in myself more, whether it be with my career, my fitness training and hobbies, social life, or relationships. I seem to subconsciously doubt myself, so I never give myself a chance to really excel...I am almost content with what I would consider mediocre...

Strengths - I love to make people laugh, and I think I'm pretty good at it. I honestly feel that my sense of humor is my greatest quality.

Yay. :bunny:

Oh good a positive thread!

Stargazer could you post some of those High School pictures that got you voted most likely to be in a Nair commercial? (leggy ones!)

I do “love the skin” I'm in and wouldn't trade it for anything. Some times it scares me how quickly time goes by. But knowing it all comes to end is what gives life its worth.

I have some big career goals for 2012. I want to make my dreams a reality. I don't have problems when it comes to getting women and love. But when it comes to living up to my full potential I've been lazy. Like I always tell the guys on LS having trouble with their love life "just try!" Well it's time for me to "just try" and live my life to its fullest.

Me too, in terms of personality. I think that's primarily why my friends keep me around...

I'll echo those sentiments with a little ditty of my own (courtesy of Helen Reddy):

I am woman, hear me roar

In numbers too big to ignore

And I know too much to go back an' pretend

'cause I've heard it all before

And I've been down there on the floor

No one's ever gonna keep me down again

Oh yes I am wise

But it's wisdom born of pain

Yes, I've paid the price

But look how much I gained

If I have to, I can do anything

I am strong (strong)

I am invincible (invincible)

I am woman

You can bend but never break me

'cause it only serves to make me

More determined to achieve my final goal

And I come back even stronger

Not a novice any longer

'cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul

I am woman watch me grow

See me standing toe to toe

As I spread my lovin' arms across the land

But I'm still an embryo

With a long long way to go

Until I make my brother understand

Oh yes I am wise

But it's wisdom born of pain

Yes, I've paid the price

But look how much I gained

If I have to I can face anything

I am strong (strong)

I am invincible (invincible)

I am woman

Oh, I am woman

I am invincible

I am strong

I am woman

I am invincible

I am strong

I am woman

Goals (short and long-term, no particular order):

Reaching the top incentive range at my job and being promoted to a staff position. I really like my job, getting to help people--at least, those who want to be helped. :p

Thinking of using my knowledge and skills at my job to eventually do freelance work and counsel those who are looking at student loans as a way to help finance their schooling.

Getting back into modeling shoots and going to an open call for a well-known agency.

Growing my hair to waist-length, cutting it short again and donating it.

Going to Europe.

Getting my driver's license.

Getting back into writing, maybe starting a blog.
