Extreme Jealousy

Hi Everyone,

 

I recently entered a long distance relationship and am finding it SUPER hard to deal with my jealous streak. My boyfriend has one female friend that he says is like a sister to him. They give advice to each other and hang out once in a while, usually by themselves. But what really bugs me are the comments she leaves on his FB posts (They always seem to have a mocking tone and are flirty) and the way he always goes to her for help.

 

I have explained to him how uncomfortable I am about their relationship because it seems like they are too close. He says that they are not interested in each other, but by the way she seems to act with him (at least on fb), it is not a good sign. Her behaviour just doesn't rub me the right way.

 

How do I deal with these jealous feelings?

Has he given you any reason to distrust him - any past problems or anything? How long have they been friends and did their friendship start before you two started dating? Do you know her or have you tried to get to know her? How does he react to your jealous feelings - does he laugh them off, genuinely listen and understand, or act defensive?

Here's the thing, he hasn't given me any reason to distrust him. He's been truthful about everything. But I cant get over it. Something just doesnt seem right.

 

They have been friends way before me and SO got together. But we have also been friends (only online though) for almost a decade. I have no idea who she is and he is unwilling for me to meet her because I might do something stupid.

 

He has been very considerate about my feelings towards her. I know I am being super irrational, but it keeps on popping back up no matter how much he tries to explain!

 

Due to my capabilities of being the other woman in the past, I dont trust other women and their intentions. I'm just not sure how to get past this!
