Anela Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Ok, name one thing women gave to the world? The only thing I can think of is the coffee filter. Useful invention sure but it ain't go nothing on the airplane. From this site: http://www.factmonster.com/ipka/A0906931.html "Mystery Inventors We'll probably never know how many women inventors there were. That's because in the early years of the United States, a woman could not get a patent in her own name. A patent is considered a kind of property, and until the late 1800s laws forbade women in most states from owning property or entering into legal agreements in their own names. Instead, a woman's property would be in the name of her father or husband. For example, many people believe that Sybilla Masters was the first American woman inventor. In 1712 she developed a new corn mill, but was denied a patent because she was a woman. Three years later the patent was filed successfully in her husband's name."

The international beauty icon, along with co-inventor George Anthiel, developed a "Secret Communications System" to help combat the Nazis in World War II. By manipulating radio frequencies at irregular intervals between transmission and reception, the invention formed an unbreakable code to prevent classified messages from being intercepted by enemy personnel. Sugarkane Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Woggle who are these people that don't want to be in relationships? If they want to be single so bad, why don't they get divorced? I find this odd. Whenever I've talked to a married couple I've never heard them say this. They usually rave on about how glad they are that they found the right person. Two of my cousins are engaged and have kids. They are not yet 30. Another cousin got divorced and eventually married someone else . Even getting divorced by his high school sweetheart, he found love again.
Titania22 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 That you bring up a few lesser inventions by women hardly proves what I said wrong Men did invent computers, cars, phones and airplanes and most other things. It was not women who travled into space and landed on the moon. Most scientific breakthroughs, theorys and so forth have been by men. Not all, but most. If only we could do a real experiment, and have all the women on one planet and men on another planet for a thousand years, and see where both societies end up. That is the only fair way to measure this. Men in general have had control over this planet for thousands of years. So even when a woman does make something, she had to do it in a system designed by men for male brains. That is not to say that the male brain isn't more wired to creating gadgets than the female brain. It's that this planet isn't a fair test of what women are capable of. It would be cool if such an experiment could be run, my hypothesis is the male planet would probably still have more gadgets, but also more wars, whilst the female planet would probably have a society that was more cooperative, interconnected and the gadgets that were invented would probably work harmoniously with the environment. Obviously I will never know. But for what it's worth have a pat on the back men. Great work creating all these gadgets we all enjoy. They are fantastic. However it is not going to stop me from feeling sad, that you are blind to the contribution women make to the world (and I am not talking about building stuff).
kaylan Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 If you see a woman spouting of misandrist crap remind her of the following: Men invented computers, the internet, cars, airplanes, phones and so forth. Men travelled into space and landed on the moon. Men have been responsible for virtually every scientific breakthrough there is. And so forth. In reality if it weren't for the things men have done, we'd all be living in mudhuts and throwing sticks at each other. Yeah men invented all those things in a world controlled by men. And in industries that are male dominated. Its not like women have had equal opportunities to do the same things men have in human history. Lets be real dude.

I am glad you have better relationships around you because from what I see truly happy couples that love each other are a rare thing. I don't even see happy couples holding hands in public anymore.
Author Woggle Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 I think it might have more to do with the fact that men don't think a relationship is crap if it isn't some 100% perfect 100% of the time fantasy from a romance novel. Men seem to have much more realistic expectations.
