SJC2008 Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Ever seen a redehead couple? I haven't. I'm redheaded and have rarely been attrcted to red haired women. However, this weekend at a football game there was one sitting a few seats from me and she absolutely rocked my world. Are their any readheads on here that have dated a fellow redhead? What would you non redheads think of a redheaded couple? Not that it matters what other people think but it is an interesting topic.

Hehe whenever I hear the word 'redhead' I immediatly add 'gives head' to it in my mind, but that may be because I have a dirty mind and its my own fault I know. But I think there's plenty of good looking red haired men and women out there: debra messing, lindsay lohan, julia roberts. and I believe justin timberlake sort of has a reddish glow over his hair. To me its more about the eyes, than it is about the hair, but red hair can be amazing.

I didn't realize that until you asked this question. Go for it!!! Break the norm!!
runner Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 yep, me thinks it is pretty rare. i've only ever seen maybe one or two redhead couples as i was out n about. just about all the gingers i know tell me how they wouldn't date another redhead. *shrugs*
zlatnapolja Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Maybe you should go to Ireland sometime. Never been there, but I'm guessing you'd probably see quite a few redheaded couples there

Dust Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 This is a picture of two red heads togather I found while doing a google search http://images.wikia.com/familyguy/images/9/95/Muriel.png Seriously though I wouldn't worry about it. If you like her go for it! Red heads are rare... enjoy comparing eachothers oddly colored pubes!
Tybalt Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I went on a few dates with another redhead once. My reasons for not continuing had nothing to do with his being a redhead. I'd imagine it to be a rarer coupling partly because we are smaller in number.
thatone Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 (edited) i am red haired and will be meeting another natural redhead i went to high school with for a concert in a couple of weeks. she's blowing up my phone at all hours of the day and even though we haven't seen each other for ~17 years she has already invited me to stay at her place rather than a hotel (i'm traveling to the city she lives in). i've never dated another redhead either. and yes, we will compare our oddly colored pubes, that much is becoming obvious. SunsetRed Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 LOL Too Funny! I'm a redhead and I probably would NOT date another red head because it will feel like I was dating my brother. Also, I'm sure there is some shared recessive bad gene that might come out if we decided to have kids.
Author SJC2008 Posted January 9, 2012 Author Posted January 9, 2012 The topic actually cam up in my anthropology class last semester. I forget what the word was but it was about human culture. The teacher was talking about how humans (for the most part) stick to their own when it comes to dating/mating. ie, similar education, race. Then she said the best example is readheads don't date redheads. But wouldn't that be sticking to your own to the fullest? lol.
Author SJC2008 Posted January 9, 2012 Author Posted January 9, 2012 @sunsetred, like I said I have never really attracted to redheaded women. And the whole "is that a couple or brother and sister?" has crossed my mind to when thinking about dating a redhead, just wait till one rocks your world like the woman I saw at the game.

I think your kid would be born with red hair, oh and when they'd say "flame on" they'd become a human torch... I think red hed chicks are sexy!
Taramere Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I think your kid would be born with red hair, oh and when they'd say "flame on" they'd become a human torch... My mother loves red hair and while she was pregnant with me she prayed for a girl (she already had a son) who would be born with red hair. I was duly born with red hair. She was thrilled. Then my red hair fell out and blonde hair grew in its place. I always had this notion that redheads always prefer other redheads. A guy told me that one time, while we were watching a redheaded couple dance (she was over 6 foot, the guy was about 5 ft 8"). I can remember a couple of other people making the same claim.

Mme. Chaucer Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I tried to start something up with a fellow ginger during my college days. But it turned out he was gay.
Taramere Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I think blondes are my favorite Taramere! There are still a few of you out there then!
O'Malley Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Maybe you should go to Ireland sometime. Never been there, but I'm guessing you'd probably see quite a few redheaded couples there Actually, I think that there are more redheads in Scotland. I can't see myself with a fellow redhead -- I strongly prefer dark hair. My mother was redheaded as well, my father a blonde, so now I have to avoid the sun like the plague.
KathyM Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 My older sister married a man with red hair. So did her daughter. So they must not have had an aversion to red haired men. Now her new baby (a girl) has bright red hair. I knew a guy that had beautiful long red hair. A pretty cool guy, actually. Normally, that color would not appeal to me on a man though, but I think it can be beautiful on a woman. There is, surprisingly, some truth to the thinking that redheads have a hot temper. I was reading recently that there is a genetic aspect that is more prevalent among redheads that cause a person to be more emotional and high strung. My neice's baby certainly seems more fussy than other babies I've encountered, so maybe that is not just a myth. Before reading that article, I thought it was just a myth that redheads are more prone to having hot tempers.
SincereOnlineGuy Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Consider that red hair is featured on just 2% of the world's population, and that the distributions of such are somewhat concentrated. Thus, if you're not surveying the locals in spots where redheads are more plentiful (yes, Ireland), then the chances of seeing a red-red couple are very slim. The chances of you seeing any two redheads as the next pair of random people to walk through the doors of, say, a shopping mall, are 1 in 2500 (and that needs to be adjusted downward for fathers and their redheaded kids). Seeing a redheaded 'couple' is even less probable than that. Interestingly, the vast majority of redheads got the trait from their fathers, so it probably doesn't change the probability of red-haired offspring too much when a redheaded male mates with a redheaded female.
Stung Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 I don't imagine it's any more odd than a blond dating a blond, or a brunette preferring other brunettes...simply more difficult to find, as they are statistically more rare. My redheaded uncle had a redheaded wife and they produced my redheaded cousins, who both have preferences for dark hair. I have a pretty redheaded friend who has a preference for dark men, who is currently dating another redhead. My dark husband has a preference for redheads (I am a brunette). I wasn't remotely worried about introducing my husband and friend to each other, though, because she's also absolutely gaga crazy about Pomeranian dogs, and my husband cannot STAND a little yappy dog. Hair color isn't everything.

Actually, I think that there are more redheads in Scotland. I can't see myself with a fellow redhead -- I strongly prefer dark hair. My mother was redheaded as well, my father a blonde, so now I have to avoid the sun like the plague. i prefer that myself, actually. dark hair and fair complexion is my thing, but that's probably just a nostalgia for home, being from new orleans there are a lot of women there of french descent with dark hair and fair skin.
