Do guys care whether or like that girls with a short bob wear earrings or studs?

Do earrings make a girl look more feminine?

Are they "necessary?"

They aren't necessary. I do associate earrings with females though.

I don't find them necessary. I kinda like short bobs on girls though for some reason.

IMO, depends on the bob. There are many different styles of short bobs, some where earrings accentuate the look and others where they'd just be hidden.

Here's an example of one where earrings serve to highlight and elongate. Here's an example of a more modest application, partially hidden.

Where hidden, simple studs might be a better choice, along with a simple necklace. I'm partial to a single 18"-20" string of pearls, but that's probably old-fashioned. Younger women could wear a choker.

OTOH, one of my favorite bob haircut wearers, Catherine Bell, can pull off the 'bare' look (no earrings/necklace) with style.

My personal preference in earrings for a more 'feminine' look are those which dangle a bit, as opposed to studs. Pearl clusters are a close second. YMMV on that. All men are different.

I'm a fan of earings on women. There's a lot of devil in the detail though after that if they do her justice or not. I don't like ones that are elaborate and over-kill. Little tiny studs are better than nothing but I'd prefer something that dangles a bit or some hoops.

Carhill, Damn! I need you to accessorize me!! You seem to know what you're doing! Haha!!

From a girl's perspective, when I had short hair, earrings were necessary. They made ME feel more feminine. Not those long, garish feather earrings, but classy hoops or maybe a two inch dangle. If people can see your ear lobes, I think you should let your personality show through the earrings you choose!

When I have long hair, I rarely wear anything but a diamond stud. Unless I'm wearing my hair back.

I can't really take credit. Most of what I 'know' came from my female best friend in my past life, as well as my exW, who did such things professionally. I probably learned the most from exW, especially in the area of matching hair to physical features and accessorizing with jewelry and makeup styles.

Here's an example, I think on Julia Stiles, of a weaved shattered end bob with dangling earrings. Short but still very feminine.

I tuck my hair behind the ears and my face shape doesn't really allow dangling or big earrings. I'm thinking more like studs to perhaps make me look more feminine and get noticed more. :p

The shorter the hair, the more necessary the earrings so that you look less masculine and people have less chance to mistake you for a guy at a distance.

I don't look like a guy and have a female bob. My friends say I have feminine features but I don't think I'm the conventional type of "beauty," so I thought maybe earrings might help?

Earrings brighten a woman's face. Simple, shiny earrings may go unnoticed themselves, but still draw light and attention to your face.

Yes, wear them!

I'm currently sporting the " posh bob" and it makes me look chic. I also have 5 earring holes ( 3 on one, 2 on the other) and I accessorize with dangle earrings and studs. I don't really get a reaction from guys because my bob is long on the sides so it covers my ears. But if I sweep my hair away, my earrings can be bit attention catching.
