Wolf18 Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Some guys might be into that OP, but others might think you're high maintenance/more trouble than you're worth. Depends what kind of man you're looking for. From the opposite side of the spectrum I'd say I like some metrosexuality in guys. I can't count how many times I see couples where the woman looks like she stepped out of a catalogue and the guy out of a cave. Apparently you may be considered gay if you take even the minimal effort in your appearance. Then many Neanderthal-looking men ask why women are not giving them a 2nd glance! Also, a guy would score extra points with me if he helped me with my own shopping. I don't see why this is seen as not "manly" enough in this modern society. Imagine if these men lived in Renaissance France. LOL The horror!! [/Quote] Ironically SilverMercy, I think you might be able to find your Dream Man via prison match making: http://www.counterpunch.org/2003/08/01/prison-bitch/
jobaba Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Hair. Easily the thing that sets it apart for me. A woman could look so much better when she has her done up really well and puts on minimal tasteful makeup. Most women don't dress to the nines for a first date though. More for like a special occasion when you've already got him.
phineas Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 A clown for wearing nice boots and a scarf? O wells. Whatever works for you. That outfit is very basic and the boots arent far out there. They are skater boots actually that just lace up high. Most of my shoes are skate shoes tbh...and its great that skate companies care a lot about diverse style. I rock a bunch a different styles. I could rock something like the outfit in the link one day, or button down shirt with slacks and a skinny tie another day. And I do quite often wear white V neck T with blue jeans and nice sneakers. Gotta mix it up. I live in NY, and women here dig a guy with swag...so style game always helps It's the black skinny jeans with tan boots & scarf with no coat that makes me want to punch him in the face. LOL! Though I have to admit I was in a bar a few weeks back & it was freezing & the woman I was with convinced me to just wear my scarf & she seemed to be into it. But by then i'd had a few in me & really didn't care. LOL! But, I had black shoes on & straight leg button fly's on.
kaylan Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 (edited) ^Lol you are very behind the times if youre one of those guys who needs to hate on skinny jeans to show how tough he is. I mean really....wanting to punch someone for slim jeans and a scarf? You do realize skinny jeans have been going in and out of style since elvis. Hell even the toughest bikers wear slim fitting jeans. And arent plenty of boots tan? I can understand not digging an outfit...but the typical "id kick his ass because men shouldnt wear skinny jeans" response is silly. But I guess haters gonna hate...wearing H&M type stuff only helps with the ladies tbh. Itll draw in more ladies than it will deter. Edited January 9, 2012 by kaylan

I couldn't even talk to a person dressed like that because the urge to punch them would be too great. LOL! Given the choice of someone in skinny jeans & someone wearing socks with sandals i'd take the guy with socks & sandals. That's how annoying I find skinny jeans. It's jeans that fit like spandex. Why don't guys in skinny jeans wear an equally tight shirt? Because they don't want to show off their bone definition. LOL! Where I live the only people I ever see wearing them are emo boys built like a 10 yr old with hair & hat's bigger than themselves. Basically rejects from 80's movies. I mean seriously, have you ever seen a "man" who weighs more than 150lbs in skinny jeans? After I lost weight I went shopping with a woman friend & tried some on for a laugh. size 32 were too loose around the waist & they cut off the circulation in my calfs and you could clearly see my Quads. Size 30 I couldn't even get my thighs into them. And I know those dudes wearing them are smaller than 30. The complete lack of weight training required to fit into those jeans just blows my mind.

Because they don't want to show off their bone definition. LOL! You obviously are ignorant about skinny jeans. They dont fit like spandex unless you get super skinny jeans. Skinny jeans just means the jeans taper to your leg and stay slim throughout the pants. They come in different cuts. Depending on someones style, they may wear an equally slim shirt. I usually wear a larger shirt with skinny jeans, or a fitted shirt to show off my upper body when I were my straight leg jeans. Again, not all skinny jeans are the skin tight pants emo scene kids wear. Plenty of other dudes rock em. Even guys like Kanye and Lil Wayne. They just wear skinny jeans that fit well and arent super tight. http://gnarlydankness.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/lil-wayne22.jpg These dont look super tight to me:rolleyes: A lot of people wear skinny jeans nowadays, but you wont notice it because they dont draw the same attention skin tight scene kid pants do. Author xpaperxcutx Posted January 9, 2012 Author Posted January 9, 2012 Three pages, and we're talking skinny jeans?!!! I'm not fond of the skinny jeans look on guys... Whatever happened to Abercrombies jeans, with the straight fit look? I don't need to know how thin your legs are, I just need to know you have a toned ass and a nice bulge for a package.. lol But seriously, I know alot of girls would dress up for a guy. I'm honstly never one to slack. On several past dates, I have risked being late for a date just because I needed my hair curled. The most compliments I have ever had was on my hair, ever since I've bleached it blonde, I get complimented on it. I don't think it's the noticeable things that makes a guys' compliments stick with me. I get the usual cute and gorgeous compliments, but I dated a guy once who complimented I had great lips. I love that. I mean if you make a compliment about a tiny birthmark on my ear, I think that's great! It tells me that you're attentive to details.

TaurusTerp Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 I was on board with you Kaylan until you started talking about dunks and H&M and crap. I can't think of something less "swag" (which is only used by idiot suburban white boys now) than shopping at H&M and tucking your skinny jeans into boots. It's straight clown, and not even cool anymore in NYC. Style is important, but not when the clothes wear you like that kid. That's just a fashion victim.
Feelin Frisky Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Yes, I very much notice. It's important to me not to appear under-dressed next to my date. I've also taken someone out who surprised me very negatively with her "get-up"--including red eye shadow. I think guys notice what their dates or SOs wear or do to make themselves up. A general difference between men and women is that women often tend to notice the detail of a lot of external things that guys don't. I went out with someone for a while who would comment on what other females were wearing and that she liked this or that and then she acted like I was a stick in the mud for not giving that much of a crap. I'm a straight guy and have a world of shi+ on my mind other than how someone tucks their pant legs inside their socks or w/e.
thehead Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 I take in the overall package but won't comment on particulars unless they're particularly good or particularly bad. Actually, if they're bad, I won't say a word but can't stop looking at it.

H&M has a bunch of different stuff depending on what one wants their style to be. They can go for preppy, casual, formal, euro street, etc. And besides that there are other stores to be found in the city and online that carry great stuff. And last I checked my dunks still get compliments from many people. Not that I wear them because I care what people think. I think they look good, so thats all that matters. If some dude wants to put his skinnies inside his boots...why should you or I care? Why you worrying about what other guys are wearing? It makes no sense to try and play someone for what they are wearing especially if there are plenty of girls out there giving them props on their outfit. You sounds like a high school kid. Why should I care if a dude thinks I look like a clown? I dont dress for men brah...so calm yourself. And nice job with the slightly racism post calling white kids idiots. Im actually a black dude from the city, and swag is still a term used by many different people. People in the suburbs hardly use it as much as I hear it in the city. And who are you calling kid? lmao...Ill say it again...haters like you are not my audience. And you are the same guys who have that mad look on your face when Im walking around with nice girls on my arm wondering "howd he get her?" I just look back with the "y u mad tho" face. Dont hate dude. Edited January 11, 2012 by kaylan
Emilia Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 I dont know any metrosexual guys personally. Guys who care about looking nice and having a decent wardrobe doesnt automatically make them metro. And being fashion conscious or metro doesnt mean a guy is not masculine and sporty. Look at black culture. We care about fashion a lot, however masculinity is still very prized. Some dudes have loads of different matching shirts, sneakers, cardigans, and fitted caps. True but you misunderstood me. I like it when a man takes care of his appearance, including his hair but there is a fine line between looking good and looking vain. I find a lot of black men sort of over-dressed a lot of the time, especially when they put those silly fake diamond studs in their ears, etc. Not my thing. Even metro footballers in Europe are sporty and masculine. Guys like David Villa and Cristiano Ronaldo do all the metro stuff like body waxing, tanning, and manicures...but they have masculine bodies, play sports for a living, and land babes with ease. So yeah. Guys can be sporty and masculine and care about how they look. Wanting to look good doesnt automatically mean the dude must be some skinny hipster kid. Bad example Ronaldo gets laughed at for his Primadonna looks and a lot of footballers (soccer players) are from the lower socio-economic groups who value looks over substance. Huge turn off for most women, they tend to land 'babes' who are prostitutes or gold diggers. No soccer players have middle class, professional, working wives. I'm much more into the surfer/sailing look. Naturally strong body, not gym buff, sunkissed hair and tan, simple dress sense. Footballers are a joke.
A O Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Guys, would you even notice? If we don't bring things up, would you take notice of the clothes we wear, the jeweleries we accessorize with and the shoes we wear? ( and please don't tell me you rarely do because you'd already be undressing us in your minds). I'd notice a nice dress or outfit for sure. Accessories, yeah, if they appealed to me. Shoes, not so much. .

Its all depends on what your taste is. Some dudes are overdressed, some arent. But still, the dudes who dress to the 9s and match a lot tend to pull women still from what I see. Especially if they arent bad looking cats. Im not gonna hate on a dude trying to look good and who goes beyond simplicity...especially if it works with the ladies. Depending on the day I may dress simple or go for broke. I usually only go for broke when its a club night. Never has hurt me one bit. I dont wear diamonds in my ears though. I have stretches in my ears. I usually just wear a solid colored plug. No different than when guys would crap on David Beckham. But at the end of the day MANY women like the dudes. Of course its natural for people to hate on the rich, good looking, and talented. I mean people say the same stuff about guys like john mayer. Im a big fan of his music. But people will call him and pretty boy and say the same things you have said. When in reality the dude wears white tees and jeans most of the time. Its just common for people to crap on celebrities who look good and do well with the opposite sex. Whatever, Im not gonna hate. Last I checked Ronaldos gf was a model and a great woman whos been very motherly to his son. So shes no prostitute or gold digger. She has her own money. And ronaldo is FAR from gym buff. Hes actually rather skinny but has decent muscle size and low body fat. All in all, for all the hate people do on Euro cats like those guys, they pull women easily...Rich or not. Being good looking and having some sort of style works. Basically, http://wcsa10.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/hatersgonnahate.jpg Edited January 11, 2012 by kaylan

I don't understand why you dismiss people that don't agree with your view point. I live in the UK and I know how footballers are viewed and the scandals they are involved in. Beckham has made himself into a fashion icon but he is a rare exception. Footballers are not seen as sophisticated or classy - though obviously there are exceptions, I think they are closer to 'Jersey Shore' types in your country ('Essex boys' in the UK). Fit men will always pull women for sure, when they have millions, even more so. You can count on one hand how many footballers land quality women though, it's well documented in this country since these guys are high profile. That has nothing to do with being jealous of their fame and money, I am a rugby union supporter, those guys earn money too (though not as much as footballers but still decent) and they are usually educated, not racist, hold middle class values high and have a profession outside their sport (footballers don't). They do their best not to look like footballers, you will very rarely find them waxing their chest hair and they ridicule those that do. It's just not what masculine men do.

Footballers are not seen as sophisticated or classy - though obviously there are exceptions, I think they are closer to 'Jersey Shore' types in your country ('Essex boys' in the UK). I mentioned two footballers. I wasnt talking about footballers as a whole. I was mentioning european guys. I simply picked Ronaldo because of his looks, status, and style. Same for beckham. They didnt dress that different from any of my european classmates tbh. Some days they dress simple. Some days they dressed to the 9s. Average footballers who sleep with prostitutes is not what i am talking about. I simply said its natural for commoners to hate on the rich, good looking, and successful. Whether they deserve it or not. Thats how people are. Thats why tabloids exist. Beckham still gets hate from many men I know. But it usually appears to be jealousy since so many women want him. Footballers are far from Jersey Shore types. Trust me...Jersey shore is bad. But either way, if being a pretty boy jersey shore type works for some guys...why am I gonna hate? They have fun and still pull a good amount of women. So its pointless to dump on their style and lifestyle. Thats what I keep saying Fit men will always pull women for sure, when they have millions, even more so. Dude, rich folks can land quality spouses. Some do, some dont. Male or female. The tabloids love to only focus on the scandals and the bad women. Right now Ronaldo is dating a great girl, and last I heard Messi was as well. Tabloids focus on the negative though. They love the cheating scandals. Look at Robin Van Persie...I believe his gal is a great woman, and she stuck by him even though he played her. Same for Wayne Rooney. But then again, average women and men like that will sometimes stick around through the bad treatment and ride the gravy train of money. Its no different in America. Look what happened with Kim Kardashians marriage to the NBA star. People think she was fooling around on him and he was a good guy. But they never focus on the young stars who have been dating the same person for a few years and are getting married. Its ALWAYS about whos cheating on who and whos breaking up. And lmao at you trying to dictate what masculine men do. Society tells us what is masculine and what isnt. You as a European should know that men wore heels and stockings back in the day. If men did that now they would be ridiculed. So its stupid to buy into societal expectations of what is masculine and feminine. If folks want to look good and have their way of doing it, let them. Its like when skinny jeans came back in style for men and people called them gay. Easily forgetting that Elvis wore them and had women swooning, and that the hardest punkers in London and NYC wore them (and still do) when punk started. Fit or not, its obviously not hurting guys with women who go for a metro looks or whatever look. Every subculture is different. Sure some may dislike it, but they are still pulling girls. If this had nothing to do with fame and money, or jealousy, people wouldnt sit and talk about these folks so much. Whats the point of dumping on someone then? They are making their lives happy...so its rather pointless to dump on them EDIT: And Lol @ you thinking rugby doesnt have racism. Just do a google search. Europe has a problem with racism in general when you go across the continent. Any sport. Its just higher profile in football because its the worlds most popular sport. And the reason rugby guys need to go to school and work outside of their sport is because they make make less money than footballers. The same goes for some footballers in America depending on league Edited January 11, 2012 by kaylan
Emilia Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 No disrespect Kaylan but I think you are pretty clueless and while your post isn't 'hating', you keep implying that my opinions come from hate which I find offensive. I can see why you rub people off the wrong way here sometimes. Clearly you ridicule what I find masculine because in some way that offends you (I'm guessing due to what other men in this thread have said) but for you to tell ME what I should view as masculine is actually dumb since it's down to the individual. I don't need to be lectured by an immature whipper snapper and being told to google anything when I talk about things I experience or see every day, I travel, I go to rugby matches, have been to football matches, I know what Jersey Shore is, I know what working class or middle class cultures are and live in a racially diverse city. I doubt very much you even own a passport and either way you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about in your last post, absolute nonsense.
kaylan Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Hating is a catch all term for being negative on someone elses pursuits without just cause. If it doesnt affect your life and it enriches their own, yet you still seek to dump on them, then that is hating. I am not ridiculing what you find masculine. I have said different subcultures like what they like. I simply stated that masculinity and femininity is dictated by society at large. It constantly changes. Thats all I said. If you find that fact to be some sort of ridicule, than grow thicker skin. You like what you like...I like what I like. Girls who like rugby guys might not like guys like me who wear skinny jeans and workout for aesthetics. I take no issue with this because I do fine with girls either way. Its just that people with your way of arguing, who throw out ideas of what is masculine or feminine, just get annoying. Its limiting to people. But masculinity and femininity are subjective and I have to remember that. Its just Ive dealt with girls like you in the past who had ideas of what being masculine was, and theyed try to change me and make suggestions on what I should wear. Even though they gladly hooked up with me anyways. So you will have to excuse me if I came off condescending. That wasnt my intent. Its probably where I went to school that changed my views on this. We had hippie girls there who didnt shave, and some tom boys with boy short hair. They were into guys, but I didnt see it as feminine, and would sometimes dump on them. But then I got to know them and realized its immature, and the only person their femininity should matter to is the boys they date. If they could achieve balance and found one another attractive, why should I hate on it? Especially when it didnt affect me. Im not an immature whipper snapper. You really should google and read up on racism in rugby. It wont exist in the UK the way it exists in the rest of Europe. The same way I dont see racism in the Premier League like I see it in Serie A or La Liga. UK has a different culture of acceptance when it comes to other races. If youd like I have a slew of articles concerning racism in rugby union. So its no different from football in that regard. Europe has a racism problem in general. Its ignorant to think that the racially diverse cities we both live in, mean that the sports we love are devoid of these issues. The culture, depending on the location, influence the sports. Location location location. I can drive 50 miles and run into trouble for the color of my skin. Its no different from Asian and African immigrants being safer in the UK than they are in France or Italy. You have absolutely no idea what you speak of if you think what you experience discounts the countless stories out there regarding what goes on in BOTH rugby and football. Its not about the sports. Its about the location.
Els Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 (edited) I honestly don't care how a guy dresses as long as he's clean and presentable. Tee and jeans does fine, as long as it's not tattered to pieces or looks like he bought them 20 years ago or hasn't washed it for weeks. It is important to me that he shares this viewpoint regarding women as well. I can't understand or appreciate why a guy would spend as much time as the average woman does primping, doing his hair, wearing earrings, buying designer clothes, waxing/manicuring etc - not that I know many guys who do. On the other hand, I'm sure there are women who do enjoy that - it just isn't my cup of tea. Tentatively speaking for my bf, on the other hand, I think he does notice but does not really put much priority in how a woman dresses either way. Just as how I notice what car a guy drives but don't really mind whatever it is. Edited January 11, 2012 by Elswyth

TaurusTerp Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Lmao @ you thinking I only shop in one place. If you're not a kid, you need a serious reality check. Nobody over 23 should dress like that. You won't be taken seriously by anybody, full stop. I'm sure girls will comment on it. Girls will always comment on the loud and absurd. It's peacocking, and will get people talking to you. But it's no better than dressing in a feather boa and top hat. You still look like a clown. Beckham/Ronaldo dont get girls because they dress well. They get girls because they're really good looking guys with ****loads of money. You can call everyone a hater all you want, and act like appearances don't matter. But fact of the matter is appearance accounts for a large part of your first impression, and your first impression is "f***ing clown" if you wear that crap.

If im not being taken seriously, why the hell do girls give me compliments and why do I still get dates dressing the way I do? And trust me im not super good looking or rich. Just an average dude. Appearances do matter, so I must be doing something right since women respond positively to me. Please reply with more trollin' bro...I could use the show. http://i1029.photobucket.com/albums/y353/eunola/why-you-mad-tho.jpg
