Lonely Ronin
Sorry for this being long winded... So, last night I was out for happy hour with a large group of friends (male & female), and our 2nd stop was a semi upscale bar/restaurant. By the time we got a table, we where all in the smart-ass, bantering, story telling grove. Our waitress immediately got my attention as she was very pretty, smiley, cheerful talkative, funny etc etc (yea i was a little infatuated ). Any way, I was my typical playfully smart-ass sell the entire meal, and that culminated whit me letting her pick me any drink from the menu when we did the final round before heading to the next bar. By the time we where ready to leave everybody was pushing me to make a move. I was hesitant about it, because being an attractive waitress in a large college town I assumed she gets hit on several times of night, and probably dislikes it. I did eventually crack under the pressure of a female co-worker chanting puss* louder and louder. My friends excused themselves and headed to the next bar while I finished my drink (the one she picked for me), and pondered how to approach her. The table I was at was close to the order pick-up area, and a commotion came from that area as she was walked around the corner. She walked to the other side of the bar and then came back and as she came close, she said "I'm sorry you had to see that girl craziness" (referring to whatever the commotion was.) I said "no worries, I didn't see anything", and used that as my chance to make my move. I asked when she got off, because I would love to buy her a drink. she said not till 2:30 and all the bars are closed by then, so I enquired about today, and she said said she worked then as well. I said how about next Friday or Saturday, and she said she worked then as well. I asked about Sunday, and she said she has a baby shower to go to, and I smiled and said well that's a good reason to say no. I tried one last time, and said how about next Sunday, and she smiled almost bashfully and said sure. I asked for her number and she walked over to a register and grabbed some paper and wrote down her number. At this point I was kind of expecting to get a fake number as I had to run through a few days to get a yes. She came back and asked my name and said her was 'blank', as she handed me her number. we exchanged a more formal introduction, and a few words and then I excused myself, and left to catch up with my friends. I left feeling pretty pleased with myself, and optimistic because instead of just handing me her number and walking away, she told me her name and asked mine (both positives I think). Walking to next bar, it me that this was the first time i had ever cold approached a women. fast forward to this morning, I woke up still pleased with myself, but have a small dilemma. I know nothing about this girl other than what I mentioned above. I'm in uncharted territory when it comes to planning the date, because I'm used to knowing a good deal about a women before i ask her out. I'm open to opinions, what are some good date ideas for someone you barely know?
