eggy Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Ex emailed me asking what I want her to do with my stuff. I told her I'll have someone pick them up and that I also want my ring back. I'm not sure why I feel the need to get back my ring. I could care less about it but why do I need to ask for it back? Sure enough as I suspected after asking for it back...I feel $#!TTY. Guess I cut off the last remaining attachment with her. OUCH!
BoredAgain Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 From what I've seen/heard/read, returning an engagement ring is standard practice after a break up. So you shouldn't feel bad about it. Not only are those things ridiculously expensive, they're supposed to symbolize a commitment... and since your Ex didn't commit, it's only fair that she return it. So get it back, sell it, and do something worthwhile (like starting a retirement account).
carhill Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Not that it will make you feel any better, but congratulations for having the healthy spine to claim what she wrongfully kept from you when she broke up with you 18 months ago. You've taken the high road on this issue. Hold your head up, collect your stuff and the ring and move on. This one has had enough of a funeral.
Author eggy Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 havent got it back yet. I'll pick up my stuff this weekend. We'll see if the ring is there.
