Sweetheartt Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Idc what anyone thinks but she's to ****ing young to be w/ this guy! he's almost 40 & she's 17. This has to be illegal but she thinks it isnt because they havent slept together yet but come on they probably ****ed & she just wont admit it. I got my own issues w/ my annoying bf & now this? Im so freaking pissed right now cause she says lots of girls her age & younger are doing this ****! Omg I know she's lying! Should I stop her?
Professor X Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 1. You can't stop her. 2. It's none of your business. 3. I agree with you, I think it's creepy and not as many do it as she would like to think.
silvermercy Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 You can't stop her unfortunately... In fact any attempt to do so, may make her ever more determined. All she needs to do is learn from experience that this is not a good thing. Just let her know you can be her shoulder to cry on when this all ends. (Also, check the laws in your area. You'll see if it's illegal or not).
KathyM Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Try to talk some sense into her. That's all you can do. Hopefully, she'll eventually realize there is no future with this guy. My neice did a similar thing, and we all tried to talk her out of it. At 24, she ran off with a guy she met on the internet who was 30 years older than her. Fortunately, she did eventually come to her senses and left him and now has a really nice guy her own age that she has been dating for over a year. But it took awhile before she was ready to leave. She was with him for 3 years. Just keep trying to coax her to understand that she's wasting valuable years of her life with a guy who she'll never have enough in common with to make it work for the long term, and to whom she'll be playing nursemaid by the time she hits 40 and he's retirement age.

This is true because a 17yr old girl might be illegal but I live in NYC so I'm not that sure. Whats his problem and other guys his age trying to bother teenagers? It does happen alot especially in chatrooms. U need to keep a eye on this if u really care about your friend.
FitChick Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Tell her parents. Her father, if she has one, or mother should pay a visit to this guy with a policeman. It would put the fear of God into this creep. In most states, having consensual sex with someone below the age of 18 is statutory rape and can put him on the sex offenders list for life. That'll wilt his erection!
aisle_seat Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 First of all, I take issue with you calling someone who's "almost 40" an "old man". But yeah; it's creepy. The guy has some issue, obviously. If you are that concerned, I agree with the above - speak with her parents about it.

The guy is a pervert!!!! Do her parents know about this relationship? Perhaps it's time to tell them. I'm sure they won't be pleased and hopefully they'll put an end to it. She is a minor afterall and they have control of what she does.
phineas Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 They gotta be of legal drinking age in the U.S. before i'd mess around with them.
Shaun-Dro Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 They gotta be of legal drinking age in the U.S. before i'd mess around with them. I agree with this. The youngest I'm attracted to is about 20-21. I really like that number for a young lady, no less, but my preference is 24-25 as I'm over 30. It just feels right to me. This 40 year old dude is a creep and a pervert. He's also a predator of the 21st century like so many others. And the list seems to keep climbing. OP, you need to have a strong heart-to-heart with your friend if you want to save her from this oncoming train wreck. If she rejects, threaten her with notifying her parents. She'll likely straighten up then.

2sunny Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 If she's legally underage for your state/area - you can anonymously report both of them to authorities. And you should.
carhill Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 " Connecticut The general age of consent in Connecticut is 16. This applies in most normal relationships. However, if any of the following apply, then the age of consent becomes 18: Where one person is a guardian, or responsible for the general supervision, of the other. See C.G.S. § 53a-71(a)(4).Where one person is an athletic coach or an intensive instructor (e.g. piano teacher) outside of a school setting, and the other is being coached or instructed. See C.G.S. § 53a-71(9)(B).Where one person's professional, legal, occupational or volunteer status gives him/her a role of supervision, power, or authority, over the other's participation in a program or activity, and the older person is at least 20-years-old. See C.G.S. § 53a-71(a)(4)."

So a guy can grab a 16 year old babe off the street for a relationship, but must relocate to Connecticut or a similar region where it would be legal, as long as he doesn't fit the above criteria. I guess this explains the epidemic: the laws are getting increasingly laxed.
kaylan Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 The guy is a loser. But let her learn the hard way
