So it's been my birthday for all of an hour so far and I am absolutely miserable...I keep going through waves of happiness and sadness. This time last year everything was still perfect and up until two months ago it still was! I keep thinking to myself, if we'd somehow managed to avoid the argument that broke the camel's back we'd still be together now and spending our second Xmas together. But as it stands he's acting as though I don't exist when he sees me. How can you love someone whole-heartedly for a year and pretend they never entered your life a few weeks later? :(

Coulda, Woulda, Shouldas are definitely your mind's worst enemy.

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH :) :) :)

It certainly did raise a smile!!! I hope you had a fantastic Christmas yourself :)

I hate myself for being upset over such a kebab of an ex while all my friends and family are going above and beyond for me. We're all off on a night out tonight (Monday) and I'm going to dance my little booty off :D

I think its the day after christmas over across the pond so happy birthday and merry belated christmas. As a man who has broken up with a woman before I know that last fight wasn't the reason that you broke up. That was either an excuse or the hundred other fights leading up to that one was the real reason. So don't focus on that one in particular.

I Don't know your story but was it your fault? Have you apologized?

Thank you very much :)

Yeah it was the fights leading up to it. It wasn't really anybody's fault just a lack of communication and general butting of heads. We didn't get to spend a lot of time together really as he was only home friday-sundays (he's in the army), we got into the rhythm of things pretty quickly but we'd still have hiccups. Yeah I apologised for the arguments and wished him nothing but happiness for the future, said I treasured what we had together and I'll never regret it, that it's a shame about the timing etc because we truly were best-friends as well as bf/gf. Even his best-friend said that if it weren't for his career (we started dating literally two weeks before he started training) and that if we'd had a chance to build some proper foundations, we'd have been the perfect match but as it was we built our relationship on the go and it was on shaky ground because of this unfortunately. Apparently he's become a very angry individual since the split and goes out drinking a lot - this isn't like him, he was always a firm believer in drink undoing all his hard work at the gym/training for his job and even before we got together he hardly went out as he's not a good drinker. His way of dealing I guess.

I know he loved me, I never doubted it because he made it obvious in how he was with me. Only three days before the split he was taking it upon himself to ring estate agents about our first apartment together, he was all excited. Some things just aren't meant to be, I guess!!!

That response actually made me giggle! You've managed to make my night and we've never even met!! Planning on looking fierce and forgetting about everything. If the ex happens to be out yet again (I've bumped into him twice so far) I plan on showing him that I can care just as little has he does and that it'll take more than a little dweeb like him to keep me down.

Thank you so much :)

Well I tried playing nice and being civilised, the first time I saw him out I even walked up and said 'hi' asked how he was doing etc...he was fine talking to me until one of his friends came over. Then he spent the rest of the night within eye-sight of me, keeping his distance but looking anyway? And the second time he just completely ignored me last night - well, two can play that game! I've tried being civilised and it was his choice to let things go this sour between us.

Though he knows it's my birthday so he might have the decency to stay in tomorrow night...fingers crossed!
