irc333 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Okay, I'm starting to notice something funny lately. People are coming up with some kind of scam where they try to get you to join a group where you're signed up for a membership, but your social activities to two people hangin' out. Basically, a dating or matchmaking service, but take away dating, making moves, or romance. Basically, a matchmaking service for friends. It basically states that, you know, if you don't want to go the movies alone or perhaps when you went out shopping, or an event...that you wish you had a friend to do it with. That's where you're "Assigned Wingmam/woman" would be available. to call up and hang out with. Is social life getting THAT bad one would need to PAY a membership into the friendship making business? I mean, if you can't make friends like you normally would....isn't that a bit strange?
Oxy Moronovich Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Meh. I don't like to judge people on this anymore. I understand how depression or low self-confidence can be a major issue for some people. Plus, there are many places where it's hard to meet people. The Pacific Northwest and New England are places where it's hard to meet people. My brother has been to Europe and he said Switzerland and the Netherlands were hard to meet people. I've met a few English people who said London was an extremely lonely city. It's not always easy to meet people, even for the most outgoing person. I think it's strange to pay someone to meet people. But I don't knock it. Online dating was once considered strange. If this thing gains popularity then paying to meet friends won't seem so strange.
Pizzaman81 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I am a horrible wingman. But your definition of a wingman is slightly different. You are talking about a date. Usually wingman is your buddy who scopes out girls and helps you get them. In that regard... I am a horrible wingman because I end up getting too excited and get the girls instead.
grkBoy Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Is this being sold as a "wingman/wingwoman"? Or just a pay service to make friends?
