I've 17, going to be 18 soon. And I really feel depressed all the time.

I don't think i'm normal looking, Im 5'6 and only weigh about 100pounds.

I hate being skinny, and not having any convidence in myself.

Over the past year I have been w/o a girlfriend, COMPLETELY miserable and to the point where I was considering suicide.

I guess i've really had enough and want to change the way my life goes. I'll be a senior next year and I figured this summer is a great time to change.

I was thinking about Lifting Weights and buying those muscle supplements or whatever.

I was just wondering if you can give me some suggestions about Dieiting, Getting more muscle, and also I could use help getting a girl.

I've been trying to get a girlfriend for the past year and I guess i'm not really getting much, I am too much of a "nice guy". what do u all think?

It sounds that you need to focus on things more important than building muscle mass.

Only a qualified medical professional can tell you what is healthy for you. The best diet (and the only diet that work) is the diet that you keep for the rest of your life. Talk to a nutritionist if you are serious about this, and talk to your doctor about realistic goals for yourself. You are definitely underweight for some reason, and you should not try anything unless you are under the care and guidance of a medical professional.

Being a "nice guy" is never usually the problem, unless you let people walk all over you and have no backbone. Women that are mature and level-headed will actually want a "nice guy" most times. I think you need to be focusing more on self-confidence and self-esteem than worrying about being single or gaining muscle. You need to change on the inside before you can acheive any real results on the outside.

It will take a while to gain muscle mass if you are going to do it correctly. If you do everything quite perfectly you can, realistically, gain 20 pounds of muscle in the first year of body building. After that, however, you will be lucky if you can gain much more. I myself am seeking to gain mass, but I have worked on my internal issues and self-confidence. I have been weight lifting since January, and I still am not at the mass and strength level I wish to be at.

If you are determined to improve yourself, start with your internal issues and then begin to work on your body. If you have the drive and you really want to do this, you will do it :) Just be safe about the whole dieting/weight training thing. Do not go in unsupervised.

<Sorry about my account name lol>

Alright Thank you for posting that was some really good advice, but I have a few more questions.

What should I be eating? Should I make a Eating Schedule so it's easy to remember?

For my Depression, Is this something i'm going to have to improve myself or am I going to have seek professional help?

Also as far as girls go, I think i will try to be myself just like you, said build esteem and confidence. Are there any tricks to this other then to be brave and just flirt my arse off?

hey buddy...

ya know..im 20..and well.....i dont really look it...although ive facial hair..i still have a bit of a baby face...

i had the very same idea.....doing weights....getting a brad pitt body...boosting your confidence etc etc......

theres good and points to consider...

the bad:

you would be changing the way you are....god intended you to look that way.....hence..not being yourself for the sake of a confidence boost

you could get cocky....as what happened to me for a short while.....you see a bit of muscle build up and hey...you think your the dogs bollix!! (dead cool).......

the good:

there obvious......nicer bod.....might get more glances off the girls........

i realised weights werent the answear.....if you think pesimistically all the time...you'll always think low of yourself.....thinking positivly...alothough things being s h i t t y as they are........will help you....gaurnteed........

you cant expect all women to like you.......being yourself and whatever women responds to it....snatch it up...

i know it sounds alot to take on now.....but trust me bud...you are still young and plenty of potential is still in you.....

im not an ugly guy......and i dont treat anyone mean....like you...im a 'nice' guy.......always doing nice things etc.......just like you...the confidence in me is crap.........just learn to boost what you already have........ive tried doing it and its not turning out so bad....

i cant think of much now...but if you want to ask anything else.....fire away :)

Self confidence and self esteem is the key! You can work on this by yourself .....make the decision to like yourself as you are! I totally disagree that you are "underweight for some reason"

My boys are your size and age....as I told you before on your other post....they are seen by a doc and even took them to a professional **** (can't remember what the term is for this doc) to see if they were growing normally...they are! They are also not classified as "underweight" Your parents determine your size and both my husband and I are small framed people, therefore our children will always be small framed! It doesn't mean they are underweight.

You have to make the decision to be happy with you! You need to take care of yourself and do something for yourself that makes you feel good.

I am considered attractive, I've been told, and never had problems getting dates, etc....EXCEPT for the times I was LOOKING for someone...seems that is when it just never happens! It's when you decide you don't need anyone to make you whole...that Someone will be there....WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT! Many will tell you this.. Maybe your looking too hard. Good Luck and Love Yourself!!!
