KathyM Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 I thought this article from Yahoo Personals might be interesting to all you LS guys looking for a girl. No doubt there will be some ladies here who disagree or have other priorities (we're all different after all) but there are so many guys on here who seem to have zero understanding about women, I figured it couldn't hurt to post it. In my mind the article is spot on, but I'd be interested to hear what other LS ladies think. 5 Things We Can't Resist About Men There are some male qualities that women the world over agree are super-hot - and we’re not just talking about washboard abs... 1. His scent Ever wondered why you like to snuggle in the nook of his armpit so much? Well here’s the (slightly gross) answer. According to research conducted by Monell Chemical Senses Centre in Philadelphia, Women are attracted to the smell of a man’s armpit sweat because underarm sweat contains a complex compound of odourless pheromones that subconsciously affect us. Charles Wysocki, a behavioural neuroscientist at the Centre explains, “Women are more attuned to underarm stink because the biological data it contains helps them choose a mate. Most women are even better at smelling male body odour than female body odours.” Nice! 2. His body language Whether it’s the way he carries himself, the manner in which he casually brushes his hand through is hair, or just the way he walks, us women are pre-programmed to notice. According to Linda Blair, clinical psychologist and author of Straight Talking “It takes only seven seconds for us to judge another person when we first meet them,” To us, a man who walks tall and is comfortable in his own skin translates as a man who is self-confident – and that’s a hugely attractive trait. Judi James, author of The Body Language Bible, explains “Judging other people in the first few seconds of meeting them is part of our survival response. We’re looking primarily to see if we should feel threatened, but we also make several assumptions about attraction and personality.” 3. His shape While we’re not necessarily looking for a muscle-bound hunk, there’s something primal about our attraction to his physical form. Whether he’s gym honed or not, if he looks fit and as though he looks after himself, this lets us know that health and well-being are among his priorities – and that’s a massive turn on. Especially when we’ve got mating on our minds. In general, most women are also predisposed to liking someone who is physically bigger than they are with broader shoulders and taller in height. This is probably residual hardwiring from our days as cavewomen when we looked to men as protectors and hunter-gatherers. 4. His sense of humour A recent study by Northumbria University showed that women use humour as an indication of a guy's intelligence which goes some way to explaining the enormous popularity of “GSOH” as a dating requirement for so many women’s dating profiles. "Intelligence is a very attractive quality as a clever man should be more able to provide resources for his offspring.” Explains Kristofor McCarty who led the study. But gentlemen be warned, while we like a man who can make us laugh, a cruel wit that makes jokes at the expense of others or denigrates and puts us down is not something we find attractive. 5. His ambitious streak We’re attracted to men with a drive to succeed for many reasons. Firstly it shows he’s passionate about something and while it may not be you (yet), it’s a sign that he’s capable of commitment. A strong work ethic demonstrates a sense of responsibility – another positive indication for selecting a life partner. Ambition also reveals a healthy sense of get-up-and go. It shows that he’s not content just hanging out with his mates down the pub and that he aspires towards something more - the desire to make things happen and improve his life. There isn’t a woman alive who doesn’t find that attractive. Edit: Spelt irresistible wrong but you can't change the title! I'd agree with all of those except the scent of underarm sweat. Some guys can smell so gross, that it's a major turn off to even be around them. I would think most women want someone who smells clean, but yet masculine. I'd add to the list something that is irresistable about men is their masculine face, if it's a nice one. The jawline, the 5 o'clock shadow, the handsomeness of it. A handsome face is what makes the man irresistable more than anything. Ashton Kutcher would just be another body if it weren't for that handsome face. I think the face is what attracts women more than anything.
Feelsgoodman Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Translation from men-speak to standard English: 1. Smells good enough to have sex with True 2. Looks good enough to have sex with True 3. Is in descent enough shape to have sex with, even if she's not, we'll still have sex False...no fatties for me 4. I don't care if she is funny or not to have sex with True...sex is not supposed to be a stand up comedy routine... 5. As long as she isn't lifeless, I'll still have sex with her True...not being lifeless is definitely a plus...I'm no necrophiliac.
xxoo Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 I'd agree with all of those except the scent of underarm sweat. Some guys can smell so gross, that it's a major turn off to even be around them. I would think most women want someone who smells clean, but yet masculine. It is about pheromones. The guy that you think smells clean, yet masculine, probably has pheromones that complement your own. You are likely to be a good genetic match, in terms of procreation. The guy that you think smells bad may be a poor genetic match for you(too similar). He may smell "clean, yet masculine" to another woman. One study on the subject.
Elysian Powder Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 I used to be much more shallow in my younger years. This pretty much describes my current man as well. I've discovered what's important in life isn' o money, height, hair, jobs, cars or silly things like that. It all fades and what's underneath is what matters. Meaning; you're no longer hot/young enough to attract the Alphas and you have to come up with a plausible excuse, hence your attempt to make older women = real women, as to attract suckers

I suppose there's some truth to that, but I think the guy would still have to be clean smelling and not smell like a sweat hog to interest any woman. No woman is attracted to BO, and I think that scent is pretty universally perceived as a negative. But a slight masculine scent, possibly generated from the underarms, I could see that as being a turn on for women.
azsinglegal Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Meaning; you're no longer hot/young enough to attract the Alphas and you have to come up with a plausible excuse, hence your attempt to make older women = real women, as to attract suckers Uh...ok...so I'm no longer hot or as young as I used to be. I didn't say anything about older women = real women. YOU read that into my post looking to insult me. Silly rabbit, tricks are for kids.

I think the face is what attracts women more than anything. I don't think the article was referring to BO - as xxoo says, it's more about pheremones and a good biological match. In fact, I don't know why they mention armpits because men I'm attracted to generally smell great all over! I certainly have no objection to a handsome face but for me, a man's smell comes first (without question) followed by the way he moves and then his body shape - his face is probably bottom of my list of irresistible traits.
Wolf18 Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Translation from woman-speak to standard English: 1. Hot 2. Confident 3. Hot 4. Great personality 5. Wealthy In other words, women like men who are hot, confident, have great personalities and are rich. This is some ground breaking material I tell you! Thank you, finally a woman-to-english interpretator can translate for us Judging from what women are saying is desirable here, I should be attracting more pussy than Fancy Feast, I fill 90% or more of the criteria. But in reality it's just more patronizing fluff that makes women seem like sugar and spice and everything nice. Meanwhile, 90% of romance for women in their 20's revolves around women dropping E at clubs and porking steroid users with little marbles for testicles.
Wolf18 Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 The pheremones stuff is by and large bogus. Most women prefer laboratory, manufactured scents of cologne over the natural smell of a man. If you think pheremones are legitimate, why dont you skip the deodarant and piss your pants before a date? According to pheremones-hockers, this will drive her crazy for you
