I remember that even before the months before my mother divorced my father, when walking outside on cold nights with all of us, she'd hold his arm.

She clearly didn't love him at that point, and the whole world knew divorce was near. Yet she still held his arm. Nothing with hard loving affection, but she held his arm.

There is another couple on my block that is going through the same. It's clear that soon they will split (for various reasons not needed to be stated here) yet the woman still holds the mans arm when walking outside?!?!?!?

So two questions:

1. Is this normal???

2. If I'm with a woman and I more or less feel like things aren't going good, should I be suspicious when she holds my arm??? Does holding arms mean anything or is it more or less meaningless???

3. For women here...if you're not longer in love with your husband or boyfriend, and if things are not in the green, then would you still hold his arm when walking outside????

The answer to the is unique to every couple going through a divorce where there is hand holding, etc.

1. Insecurity

2. Still friends but just can't live together

3. Woman wants to keep the peace until she's away

4. Woman is still dependent financially on the guy

5. Woman is depressed about the impending separateness

I mean, use your imagination here. But there is no one answer. There are millions of reasons.

And yes, in many cases it can have no meaning at all...that's just how the woman conducts herself.
