Wolf18 Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 ^ Don't you have gay friends to shop with? Why must men be subject to the torture of shopping with a woman? Circling the same damn item 50 times and not even buying it
ShannonMI Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 ^ Don't you have gay friends to shop with? Why must men be subject to the torture of shopping with a woman? Circling the same damn item 50 times and not even buying it  OMG eerie. You sound like my ex. He'd say the same thing. "You keep looking at the same sh*t, Shannon. Just pick something out already" It's all about prices baby. You gotta bargain shop. Some stores are cheaper then others.
OnyxSnowfall Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 LoL, I'd much rather their mother / someone else purchase the bulk of their attire over the years ..... as opposed to them doing it for themselves and greatly enjoying it
Lonely Ronin Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 ^ Don't you have gay friends to shop with? Why must men be subject to the torture of shopping with a woman?: Wolf, your got your priories wrong man... I'm just sayin VS & FH ...
Wolf18 Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Shut your trap, Wolfie. Getting your mother to dress you is absurd. That's not maning up, that's babying down. Does she wipe your fanny too? I love shopping for my men. I would have you dressed soooooooo well:love: You'd look like a male model if I got my hands on you. What kind of clothes do you think look good on males? What's wrong with a 7 year old slayer tshirt and tighter jeans that show my package like those Tom From Finland cartoons when i cross my legs.
ShannonMI Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 LoL, I'd much rather their mother / someone else purchase the bulk of their attire over the years ..... as opposed to them doing it for themselves and greatly enjoying it Hell no. Not me. I wouldn't trust a mother to dress my man. He'll end up looking like a 12 year old. Fine, he doesn't like to shop for his own sh*t. I would shop for him and he'd look fine as hell.
Wolf18 Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Alright fine, if girls want me to shop for myself and buy what I want I'm going to macy's to buy a pair of assless chaps right now.
ShannonMI Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 What kind of clothes do you think look good on males? I'll give you that. I like tight jeans on a man. Just as long as they aren't skinny, Justin Beiber jeans. Do your jeans have rips in them? Love that too. And Doc Martins are hot:love: I like the clothes in Express for guys. H&M is good. Some Guess stuff is good. I'm sure all that stuff turns you off, but you would look hot in it;)
ShannonMI Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Alright fine, if girls want me to shop for myself and buy what I want I'm going to macy's to buy a pair of assless chaps right now. HOT!!!!!!!!!!!! You are such a tease Wolf:love: Does Macy's even sell chaps?
Lonely Ronin Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 HOT!!!!!!!!!!!! You are such a tease Wolf:love: Does Macy's even sell chaps? I'm thinking he will have to hit up tractor supply for those
ShannonMI Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I'm thinking he will have to hit up tractor supply for those Hahahahahaha yeah or the local Feed and Seed.
kvinna Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I'd love it. It'd be something we have in common
kaylan Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I dont know where some of you folks are from, but here in NYC, having swag = getting play from the ladies. Ive never had a girl take issue with mt affinity for style. Some of them may have said I was too hung up on looks, but it just means Im someone to look good with while they are with me. The dudes with the best style are always pulling girls from what I have seen. The guys who are stuck on that old school masculine trip are the ones who have a problem pulling cuties. Funny is guys like the dudes on jersey shore go shopping, tan, are obsessive about their skin, get manicures sometimes, but would kick the crap out of any dude who tries to talk crap about them not being real men. Tells you something now doesnt it? Again I say, swag = increased game = getting girls.
coffee.girl Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 HIGHLY unattractive? As in you want a man who wears clothes from K-mart and Marshalls? Because any man who has any decent selection of clothes does SOME shopping. You do realize that right? Man, sometimes I wonder why I even bother... Hi OP. Surprisingly interesting topic. I think it's about maintaining a fantasy to a certain extent, at least in the initial stages of dating. I mean, to turn it around.... I'm sure you want to date an attractive, well-groomed woman, right? But do you really want to know about all the work she's put in to look that way? The waxing and shaving, the hair dye and blow-out, the makeup (and yes, 'natural' makeup takes just as much effort as over-the-top-makeup), the perfumes and lotions and potions to smell good and keep our skin soft and hair shiny... Most guys I have dated seem happier to believe we just roll out of bed that way. Maybe your dates are the same - they'd rather believe you are an effortlessly-sharp dresser, without having to put much work in. Also, re. your point about shopping being a point of common interest - in my experience people are looking for interests and attributes in the opposite sex which complement and contrast their own. They are rarely looking for a carbon copy of themselves. Your experience may vary. You also said that your clothes have never given you an edge getting women... well, it seems like you're getting dates at least, which is a lot better than a lot of the guys on this board!
Feelin Frisky Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Who doesn't shop? The question is how excited is too excited for a man to get about a particular shower curtain?
Jynxx Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Imo there's nothing wrong with shopping in itself, but... think off the 5 biggest douchebags you know... they all look like they like to shop, right? There's just a high correlation between enjoying shopping and douchebaggery. I don't mind a woman who enjoys shopping, but when it's her hobby alarmbells start going off. I'm not judgemental, but I just don't see much relationship potential in someone who spends a high % of her earnings on clothes, or worse is in creditcarddebt because of it. Also there's a high correlation between spending lots of resources on things that decrease in value and being an airhead.
KathyM Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I think it's nice when a man is willing to go shopping with a gf or spouse and is actually enjoyable to be with. I think most men in that situation are desperate and impatient to get out of the mall, if they are even willing to go there at all. My husband is impossible to shop with, so I rarely go with him. I think it's nice that you put an effort into the clothes you wear, but I would recommend not bragging about your interest in it to women, or they will think you're some kind of efeminate guy or some kind of weirdo.

Some of my jeans do have rips in them, but mostly from taking spills while wasted Maybe if I can rip them up a few more times I can sell them for double the price I bought them for.
grkBoy Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 From my experiences, it depends on the woman. Women have different things that they find attractive. Some women see "metro" men or "men who shop" as feminine. They would rather complain to them why they can't seemingly dress well for a formal occasion, but still feel like their man is a "man". Others love the "metro" thing, and look at the men I just described as barbarians. They like that he knows how to dress well and look well...provided it's not over-the-top.
Disenchantedly Yours Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I have found a wide variety of men attractive. From men in suits to men in flannel shirts. What would turn me off would be a man talking about labels and shopping more then a man that just looks well put together. It's one thing to like to look nice and another to talk/brag/gossip about clothes, fashion and labels. I don't know why, but that's the way I see it. To the OP, are you by any chance African American?
MaxNoob Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Buying designer clothes is like buying expensive art. When an art dealer can't sell his paintings, he doubles the price. Then people think: well this painting is expensive, so it must be good - I'll buy it to show off how much money I can waste. Why do you want to buy a $400 purse when it has the same production cost and durability as a $20 purse at Wal-Mart? You're just paying for the label and it's an inappropriate amount of vanity when so many people are starving to death.

There is a big difference in quality and style between a Calvin Klein shirt and something you grab off the rack at Walmart. You don't know of what you speak. Designer clothes can be had fairly cheaply via sales and outlet stores.
grkBoy Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I disagree...and I know we're taking this on a tangent. The goal for men isn't about the label or how much they paid...but how they look in them. I like Levis 527 jeans because they really flatter my body. Wrangler also came up with a boot cut jean that looks decent for a little less. I don't care if the shirt is $5 or $50. You just put it on, look in the mirror, and see if it looks great on you. Spending hundreds on an item does not guarantee it will look great on you. Seen guys with $200 shirts and they looked hideous because the guy only ran out for a name and price tag, but didn't really know how to wear it or find what fits him perfectly. When I tell guys here to look at GQ and Details, I always make sure to let them know they should ONLY look at the STYLES...not the price or label. You might see a CK ad where you think that guy's outfit would look phenomenal on you...but figure out how to get that look with items bought at Kohl's, Target, and Express. I agree with MaxNoob and have seen how smaller shops will jack up prices simply to build the idea of value. It's a very common practice.

Yeah they have men's clothes and it's good quality stuff, reasonably priced and fashion forward. I loved ripped, distressed jeans. I wear them and love when a man wears them.
shocked_confused Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I like guys who dress like this: http://www.gq.com/fashion-shows/complete/slideshow/S2012MEN-JCREWMEN/#slide=2 And this: http://www.gq.com/fashion-shows/complete/slideshow/S2012MEN-JCREWMEN/#slide=7 And this: http://www.gq.com/fashion-shows/complete/slideshow/S2012MEN-JCREWMEN/#slide=13 And this: http://www.gq.com/fashion-shows/complete/slideshow/S2012MEN-JCREWMEN/#slide=16 LOL what can I say, I love J.Crew and I love preppy guys. A lot of guys I've dated/hooked up with dress like this. Not necessarily "J.Crew", but this kind of style. It's what I gravitate to in a room full of people. They warm my heart:love:
