LostInTurn Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 (I'm not certain where this post belongs) I met someone at work. I'm a consultant and he's on the vendor team. It wasn't anything at first, casually ran into one another from time to time. Then, we hadn't seen one another for a couple months. One night, I was having dinner with a colleague at this random place in the city. Well, as we're leaving he walks in. We chat for a brief moment and I end up giving him my number. Needless to say, we go out the next night. It was a great time. We met up for drinks and had great conversation. As I write this keep in mind, I don't 'date' and I never pick up on any signals. The next time he's in the office, we go out. Dinner and drinks right after work and closed the bars down. He made references to the 'next time' we hangout, etc. I just smiled. I may be taking a new job with another company and when I told him, he asked me to consider staying (I gauge he thinks I'm an asset to where we are, but others think it's because he's interested. We hardly know one another though!) I'm cautious because most importantly, we work together and wouldn't that be awkward. Well, New Years is right around the corner (as we know) and I want to invite him out. We'll both be back in town that first week in January, so it's not a ridiculous invite, but I feel odd. I want to ask, but I don't want to be rejected (I know, who does?! No one! Got it) I don't want him to think it's odd I asked. I can't read people, at all. What would you do?
