Hi everyone! * enthusiasm*, yes after a hiatus of about 2 years, I am back lurking the sites and providing ever so excellent entertainment. And I just hit the big THREE O!!

I miss some of you guys, how's Tami-Chan and Betamanlet! Those two were great! :lmao:

Now.... seeing that I am back only means that my last 2 years of disappearance could be due to me being in a relationship. I have ended that.

I am starting to not seriously look around, but keeping my eyes open for potential. My last 2 gfs were from OKCupid. So I decided let's give this another whirl, against my friend's wishes that I should stay away from that site now.

For those that came back to online dating after a long time, did you guys sense that the online dating scene is a little different now? I felt I had a bit more luck in the past versus now. Most of my profile remained the same since I still got the same job, same interests, some new photos. It's just I'm 30 now.... yes I made it.

So I repeat my question: Online dating remained pretty much the same? Or things changed a lot in the past few years.

If you see Betamanlet, tell him I said HI. Give him the good ole ONE TWO for me.

Online dating is the pits. I've been on eharmony and I got creeps. I went on a free dating site and I got creeps. I ended up deleting my profile on the free site 24 hours in because I got messaged from old men and men that look like they could be the next Ted Bundy. I have no desire to ever online date again.

I think online dating is setting yourself up for failure. They say its a numbers game so you have to send out LOTS of emails for one to respond back (from a guy's prospective), that's pretty dismal result. I have friends who have had success with online dating (2 got married). But I don't see their relationships health! I have a friend who's really successful in online dating. He told me that his good in writing. Seems like people who have success online are types of people who prefer not being social and have things to hid?

I prefer face to face meetups. So I suggest going out more. I do online dating myself just to keep my options open. But how do I get excited over conversations that may or may not be real! At least in person, you can tell by one's body language.

OH man!

I remember those guys now.

I recently started back also since I put myself back on the market.

I remember one of your posts where some woman flaked on you for a lunch date & then tried to make it up by buying dinner & you flat out told her no because you were done with flakes.

It stuck with me.

Welcome back.

I think it's gotten worse over the years because many of those "creeps" who thought online dating was for losers stayed away. With more people, especially older, being on Facebook, they figure it wasn't so scary after all. Of course, thankfully, most of them have the candy store mentality and once they realize that just because they want someone doesn't mean that person wants them, they go back to Facebook or complain about the opposite sex on dating forums.

I think online dating is evolving, people aren't as new and excited about it as they might have been in the past and learning its pros and cons. I think online dating is about as successful as real life dating, both seem to be suffering though ;)

As far as comfort with online dating, for myself I'm pretty successful with it but that's probably because I'm a little more articulate and expressive through my profile...I'd assume, meaning I'm not typical in many ways so I stand out...so I've been told.

I have been meeting people outside of online dating as I've gone out and done more things...oddly enough, so In the end I guess you gotta go with the flow, if you feel like online dating isn't working for ya...go with a different strategy if that's what feels right..but I think you're right about a chance with online dating in general, I get the feeling people are getting tired of it's bull****.

Ah the memories... surprised you remember that. That was the one and only flake I had actually. So we're both back in the game... stay strong! Man uP!
