I've always had sthitty birthdays so I'm not sure what people normally do for their so's in the mid twenties/ thirties age range. Dinner? Concert tickets? Gift?

He wants me to take the day off work to spend it with him but I'm not sure about that.

Taking the day off together sounds like a nice idea. Why aren't you so keen?

Couples massage.

Dinner out at a Moroccan restaurant with belly dancers.

Mud baths in Calistoga, California.

A weekend away (to the mud baths in Calistoga :)).

Take him to Cirque du Soleil.

A bicycle.

Roller blades.

A GPS.

A monogramed messenger bag.

Golf clubs.

A catchall.

A brewing kit.

I'm liking this one!

Weekend road trip -- pick out a place neither of you have ever been.

Tickets to a favorite band

A picnic with your favorite foods at a scenic area (weather permitting)

Why haven't you ever had a fun birthday? You don't have to take your actual birthday off, take the weekend off after your birthday if you'll have more time to do what you want.

Sorry, OP, I misread.

I thought it was HIS bday.

I like O'Malley's suggestion of a shared experience.

Road trips can be awesome!

Lots of opportunities for photos and memories.

My birthday is next week and I will be gone on a business trip. I'm not making a fuss about it with my boyfriend, although I'm hoping he'll do something for me when I get back in town. Birthdays aren't that special, but it's nice to have an excuse to have some romantic time with the SO.

It is his bday. I'm trying to figure out what I should do.

Oh, okay.

I was thrown for a minute.

Is he an active, fun-loving guy?

Would he enjoy something like

indoor skydiving?

Indoor go kart racing?
