suckered Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I have a good friend of mine that hangs out with me and my boyfriend often. When we take pictures and they stand next to each other, he puts an arm around her waist (rather than shoulders). Does this signifies that he is attracted to her? It somehow bothers me

It somehow bothers me That doesn't mean anything by itself. How much attention does he give her? I would say that is way more important. If it bothers you... ask him to stop, but don't make it about her.... make it about putting his arm around ANY girls waist. Also... frame it in terms of a disrespect so you don't come across as insecure.

It's not disrespectful for your boyfriend to put his arm around a girl's waist when they're posing for a picture. He probably doesn't even think about it, and if you bring it up, it will create drama for no reason.
OnyxSnowfall Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Hmm. The waist is pretty intimate to me ... Do you think he'd care if another man (one of his close friends) did that to you? I think it'd only make me really uncomfortable if there seemed to be other things going on with them as well though...
oaks Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 It somehow bothers me Then you have to say so, otherwise it will continue to bother you. (Sorry for stating the obvious.) I don't think you should get hung up on analysing it for hidden meanings about whether he's attracted or just being friendly or anything like that. You don't like it, so talk about it.
Jessica45 Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I don't think it signifies that he's attracted to her. That being said, it would bother me too. I don't like to see my bf with his hands on another woman no matter how innocent. But I wouldn't mention it it unless there are some other indications that he's interested in her. Having a fleeting pang of jealousy is normal in a healthy relationship but acting on something this minor would be out of line.
FitChick Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 When friends are having their picture taken as a group, they generally put their arms around the waist of the person next to them so everyone can squeeze in. It's just a normal reflex.
