Around this time last year my grandma died. My uncle found her after he went to check on her after no one had seen her for a few days (some had started calling my parents worried about her). A few months ago my dad and my uncle sold her house to a real estate company that ended up renovating the house. Well out of curiosity I checked to see if the house was on the market now and what do ya know, it sure is.

And it looks totally different than it did before. Don't get me wrong it looks great, but, it's just not "grandma's house" anymore :(. It's like "wow, she's really gone now". It hadn't really sunk in throughout the summer since I spent quite some time in the house helping my parents clean up the house and sort through its contents. But now...I dunno, it's weird.

Anyone else ever go through this sort of thing?

The first anniversary of losing someone dear is always very painful....I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

And it is difficult to see the house looking different, with someone else in it, when you have a lot of memories left there.

I actually was in the neighborhood I grew up in a few years ago, and on a fluke, I knocked on the door of the house I grew up in. I explained who I was, and the lady was nice enough to give me a tour----it was a very strange experience, but kind of cool, too. I guess it was a form of closure, in a way.
